Revision as of 08:07, 4 October 2022
The Octupus Tea Cannon (abbreviated as OT Cannon, and previously known as Skim T Cannon) is an opening setup with the pattern of Single-line Skim→TSS→TSD→Perfect Clear. It has 96.39% chance of Perfect Clear with either 4 or 8 lines. This setup is discovered and named by a Taiwanese player Octupus Tea. Kerrmunism and Agent 1568AH also contributed to this page.
First bag
OT Cannon works the best with early S (or Z when mirrored) and preferably early I. However, late or held I results in additional 4-line Perfect Clear solutions.
If Z comes before I, one can build Stitch instead.
The setup rate is 73.81% (3720/5040) when counting both orientations.
Default pattern
T on hold or in queue.
|
|
Hold I pattern
T and I on hold and/or in queue (setup rate 28.39%).

4-Line Perfect Clear
Pieces left for the second PC are listed below each solve.
- Solution for the default pattern (11.43% PC rate)
OTSZ |
- 3 additional minimal solutions for the hold I pattern (21.67% PC rate with all 4 solutions)

Second bag
If the 4-line Perfect Clear is not applicable, one should do a T-Spin Single using the T from the first bag and stack the second bag as follows for a T-Spin Double.
The second bag can always be stacked like this.
1st bag TSS |
2nd bag TSD |
Third bag Perfect Clear (8 lines)
Minimal solutions
- 95.79% PC rate, 9 minimal solutions
Each of the nine minimal solutions are listed below with decreasing success rate. The pieces saved for DPC Setups are also shown under the solutions.

Solutions with T-Spin
Alongside solutions A and F, the following two potentially have a chance to get a T-Spin and a Perfect Clear.
The combined PC chance is 58.21%, with a 42.22% chance of a T-Spin Single or Double.

Setup K: Save L |
Additional setups and continuations
First bag skimming pattern
There are 3 skimming patterns that result in the same remnants as the first bag defualt pattern after TSS.
The setup rate increases to 85.91% (4330/5040) when including all these skimming patterns.

Shachiku Train (Mechanical TSD)
Repeatedly stacking Shachiku Train would form a column-rotated Mechanical TSD v3. This is not recommended in combats, since it results in increasingly higher stacking and two 1-wide wells.
The following figures shows the first few steps of this continuation.

Special continuation
The following special setup leads up to a BT Cannon after stacking the 4th bag. It is always stackable until the 8th bag (Interchangeable JLZS only covers 88.25% of all possible bags). It is also not recommended in combats as the stack and the KPP are both very high.

Garbage-interrupted variations
The second bag is likely to be interrupted if a garbage hole spawned under L or I (on the column 7 or 10, respectively).
Under L (Column 7) |
Under I (Column 10) |
In the case of the interruption, one should change the setup or downstack. Some useful variations are listed below.

Perfect Clear with 2-Deep Garbage
If the opponent opens with a T-Spin Double or Tetris, it is very likely for the garbage hole to be 2-deep, leading to potential Perfect Clears.
The pieces saved for DPC Setups are also shown under the solutions, as these Perfect Clear solutions use 6 pieces from the second bag.
