Mechanical TSD Setups are repeating T-Spin Setups. They are builds that keeps repeating in one bag. The advantage of using these setups is that they are simple and easy to learn. This setup was then reintroduced by player Tafokints to his western viewers under the name T-Spin Factory. They are similar to ST Stacking.
Repeating the same shape over and over again creates a T-Spin shape. However, because the height gets higher as more TSDs are done, one cannot repeat indefinitely. Mechanical TSD should not be used in vs due to the rising stack and the inability to clear garbage while maintaining the loop.
Mechanical TSD v1
First Bag
Placement of IJOL is interchangeable.
Second bag
Stacking the bag this way may be impossible if I comes before L and J comes before Z. There is a 16% chance of failure.
Third bag and beyond
In the third bag, stack like so and do a T-Spin Double. In the fourth bag and beyond, stack the same way. I piece should be kept in hold and placed at the end of the bag. If T comes after I but before L, you may have to do the lower TSD instead.
Mechanical TSD v2
First Bag
In the first bag, use all pieces including the T piece and stack like so.
Second Bag and beyond
In the second bag, stack like so and do a T-Spin Double. In the third bag and beyond, stack the same way. In any bag, if one gets an early T, then they may do the lower TSD instead.
The shape will look the same. But it is getting higher and higher and one will have a few cells in the center. If the left side is like shown in the diagram, they may do an I-Spin to fill in that gap (shown during the fifth bag).
Also, one can do a Tetris while in the loop, to lower the setup. They will need three I pieces.
Notes
- One can do the mirrored setup, but the process is the same.
- It is possible to make this setup in a different way. Both the normal and mirrored setups are shown. Simply, the SL/ZJ and OJ/OL cores are swapped.

Mechanical TSD v3
Build order
First Bag
The first bag is made similar to TKI 3. In the first bag, I and J need to come early.
Second Bag
In the second bag, one is always able to make a TSD if you use soft drops.
Third Bag
In the third bag, again, one is always able to make a TSD if you use soft drops. This time, the IO placement is different.
After that, the process repeats. Please refer to the fumen below. The fumen below shows Mechanical TSD v3 after 7 bags.
Perfect Clear
There is a Perfect Clear after 8 lines in the third bag (71.67%). SZI is always fixed. If S comes early in the third bag, then the chance is increased to 100%.
There is also a Perfect Clear after 14 lines (10.95%).
Miscellaneous
- Abandoning the loop: Here is an example if one abandons the loop:
- Alternative placement in the second bag: if one decides not to use the usual form above, then they may stack like below as if they are using TKI 3.
- TKI 3 Flat Top start: one can start the loop with the TKI 3 Flat top variation.
