Tetris for Famicom, originally published under a wrong license, led to Henk Rogers's purchase of the Tetris license on multiple platforms, which later led directly to further Nintendo releases.

Oddly, this game mapped Down to rotate and A to hard drop, and there is no soft drop present, so some people thought this version one of the weakest of it's kind. However, experienced players take advantage of existence of hard drop. This version of Tetris would be later followed by Tetris 2 + Bombliss, which has more standardized controls without hard drop.

Not to be confused with Nintendo's version, which was the version released outside Japan.
