Dream of Pixels is a commercial game for smartphones. It was sold on iTunes, before it became free-to-play. You can still buy the full version to remove ads and unlock 3 further modes (pro, nightmare, shattered dream). Dream of Pixels is often referred to as "reverse Tetris". It takes the Tetris concept, turns it upside down and adorns it with some dreamy graphics.
Concept
The graphics resemble clouds in the sky. You remove tetromino-shaped parts from those clouds. If a horizontal line is completely removed, then all clouds below rise by this line. The clouds move slowly to the bottom. If a cloud touches the bottom, then the game ends.
If you reverse the graphics, then you get a survivor-like Tetris game with the following properties:
- pieces are inserted from the bottom (through your stack)
- completed lines don't disappear but are moved to the very bottom of your stack
- your stack shrinks slowly
- you lose, when an inclompeted line touches the ground.
Classic Mode
This mode works similar to Marathon in classic Tetris titles. The goal is to score as many points as possible. Clear lines to earn points. Level up every 10 lines. The higher the level, the higher the score modifier, but also the faster the clouds move. This mode seems to use Bag randomizer. However, you only receive Tetriminoes that can be removed from the clouds.
A Single yields 100 points, a Double 400 points, a Triple 900 points and a Tetris 1600 points. From time to time you will see white colored clouds in the shape of a Tetriminoes. You get 1600 points for clearing them with the corresponding Tetrominoes. All these points are multiplied with your current level. They are also multiplied by the current number of successive line clears (chains resp. Combos). A Single-Tetris combo in level 1 is worth 3300 points ( 100 + 2 * 1600 ), whereas a Tetris-Single combo is just worth 1800 points ( 1600 + 2 * 100 ).
Puzzle Mode
The puzzle mode comes with 100 different riddles and includes nice pixel art. The goal is to clear each shape with the given pieces.
