Quadrapassel (formerly Gnometris) is a tetromino game, originally intended to be used with the GNOME desktop environment. Currently, it is made using GTK+3. The game code is licensed under GNU GPLv2 or above. It can usually be found in the software repositories of most major GNU/Linux distributions, as long as they ship the GNOME desktop.

  • Playfield width: 10 columns as of version 40.2. Before this version, Quadrapassel has had 14 column wide boards.
  • No wall kick
  • One preview, along with a toggle for this available in the game preferences.
  • Ghost piece is present along with a toggle for this available in the game preferences.
  • Clockwise OR counterclockwise rotation, defined in the game preferences.
  • Sound effects do not interrupt each other; instead, they queue up. Even at 60 TPM, one could still easily play fast enough to get 15 seconds ahead of the sound effects.
  • DAS is based on operating system autorepeat. It can be configured at System > Preferences > Keyboard in GNOME. DAS discharge is present on rotation.
  • Cheese lines are available, with the player being able to configure their density and amount in the game preferences.
  • The player may choose which level to start the game with in the game preferences. This option's value caps at 20. However, level 20 in Quadrapassel does not actually mean 20 G.
  • Lock delay seems unintended, or at least very short. It seems to be somehow similar to TGM's lock delay mechanism.
  • There are four Block skins for the user to choose from.
  • The colors for the I, J, L, O, Z, S, T tetrominos are purple, green, red, cyan, yellow, white, and blue, respectively.
  • The directions which tetrominos are spawned are different.
  • No measures seem to be taken in this game to avoid droughts or floods.
