General / How bad is Tetris Ultimate?

I have been playing the 3DS game recently and there are a few things which really bother me:

- Forced to grind online content to unlock offline modes, which isn't possible because no one is playing it online
- No skins and default skin isn't pleasant on the eyes
- No reversible controls (such an easy feature to add... I don't want to use the d-pad for movement! )

I change my vote. If the WR holder who isn't using it allows it then fair game.

The wait for PC version continues. Also my expectations are going down daily. It really shouldn't be hard to get this right!

How long until MicroBlizz ascends from earth to join the gods?

This is getting beyond me. I think I will set my new aim to keep my sprint time less than DOUBLE the WR. If I can place one piece for each of MicroBlizz two then i'll be happy

Just wanted to give my congratulations to Question_Mark!

Regardless of the rules used you've achieved something special which I doubt any but an elite few can ever hope to replicate. Well done!

Wait we are sub 19? wtf! I've been watching these records and my brain has just been adding 19. to the start of them all.

This is insane!

Thanks for putting this together caffine, it made for a very interesting read. Sadly I'm not old skool enough to be able to give you any useful information.

All I have to add to this really is that measuring peoples top performance doesn't really give you an indication of how consistent they are which is IMO much more important.

Sure on a good day I can hold my own against many people here... but on an average day I'd get wiped across the floor. My performances are very inconsistent.

I don't think it would be a workable system but basically an average of 10 games would give a much better indication of skill. I don't see any problem with this since we are working based on a system of trust anyway so there is no need for judging.

I'm not sure if I'd want to make that 10 games of dig challenge or 20. How separate are you wanting to treat scoring and survival length?

Effectively this would mean you wouldn't know if you'd miss dropped or not and would need perfect placement for the full roll to succeed.

Here's hoping for a visible credits roll troll. Although a giant invisible piece roll would be pleasing too.

I'm not big on the technical details of these things but I used to play extreme mode for about 1 hour a day. After 6 months I managed to beat it whereas I've never really gotten past S8 or so with TGM.

While I'm much better with SRS than ARS extreme still feels a lot easier to me.

Also it can affect your inputs if you mess up your timing so any line clear delay > 0 will probably have an increased detrimental affect on the average player in terms of sprint time.
