I just checked LJ and it doesn't.  It says "ready" with nothing showing and then the pieces show up when it says "go".

I don't know.  If there's a delay, it's so fast I can't see it.

Good luck!

I'm wondering if you might be seeing the limitations of the keyboard as an input method considering you need 40 states and having to stretch your fingers for some of them might be hindering your progression.

Trust me it's not hindering it as much as playing a different game would. To get 300TPM I would need to hit at least 5 keys per second. Test your self by hitting any realistic order of keys (using : 1-0, q-p, a-; , z-/ ). It is possible to get more than double what would be required to hit 300 TPM.

Also consider that unlike other games, I can use 8 fingers that don't press one key over and over but instead alternate. Meaning if I was reaching for "a" on one piece, my right hand could move toward "0" at the same time. You can alternate fingers for any possible key combination and I never use the same finger repeatedly unless it is more efficient (sliding my finger).

[!--quoteo--][div class=\\\'quotetop\\\']QUOTE[/div][div class=\\\'quotemain\\\'][!--quotec--]did you know i meant you could take your time and TPM from 2 different occasions?[/quote]

Yeah, it just so happens mine are from the same time. It is more likely that way. I want to change this though, I would rather it just be ordered by fastest 40L time, then the TPM for that time will be on the right. I know my goal is to reach 300 TPM but TPM itself is meaningless if you don't use the pieces efficiently. My 31.219 record is proof of that. 209 TPM could easily be sub 30, but I didn't use it efficiently.

When I break 300 TPM I will have completed my goal, but I won't be satisfied unless its sub-20.

There is a full second between "Go" and the first frame of the game from what I remember.

It looks like you place your first six pieces at over 400 tpm, so I don't think 300 tpm will be a problem as long as you can think where to put the pieces fast enough.

there are no soft/firm drops though, only locking hard drop. the piece drops and locks when you press a column key. if you have deep drop on, the piece will fall to the lowest place in the field where it can possibly fit.

I see, i wonder if there is a way around it, that would allow some form of softdrop and piece movement without the need of deep drop in order to be somewhat more aligned with guideline tetris.

Just off the top of my head, um i think if the piece locks when the key is released instead of dropping and locking when it is pressed.  You can have a second option where if you hold the key you can still move the piece left or right until the key is released thus locking it.

Where would be the best place to pass this msg to kirby?

There is so much debate right now over what should be considered in the ALL 40 Lines section. My answer for this is any game that is listed in the record section that has a 40L should be counted among the ALL 40L. Keyblox 40L has advantages and disadvantages to it. It is the same with other games.

Blockbox has hardly any delay, yet it is compared to TF on the records section. The goal of the ALL 40L section is to see what the fastest possible time is for 40L on any game. I would even say that TF 40L is a different game than BB 40L. In TF you are rewarded for only using tetrises (less overall clear delay) which is different for other games.

The things I do agree with taking out are things like deep drop. Deep is a drastic change within the game mechanics. There are so many disadvantages to keyblox without it though, but with it there are advantages. Yet I still decided to do away with it.

You may not agree that Keyblox 40L is true 40L for whatever reason, but you don't have to consider it in that sense. Just look at it in terms of how fast someone can process and place tetrominos mentally in the span of clearing 40 Lines.

Maybe 1 s between "ready" and the first frame?  I really can't see anything more than a fraction of a second between "go" and the pieces moving when I hold the D-pad sideways before the game, and it doesn't look like more time than it takes the DAS to charge, but I can't tell exactly when the clock starts till it gets to 1 s, because it only shows full seconds on the clock.

Should having previews before the clock starts be allowed in any time-based games though?  It doesn't seem fair if you're allowed time to think about where to put the pieces before the clock starts, and it kind of makes me question the legitimacy of records obtained on Blockbox, although it does only have 3 previews.

Okay for those who play keyblox start posting your screenshots here if you want to be on the leaderboard! It helps me a lot to know other people are going for it. Also I'll be motivated to be first in the race hehe. But if you pass me up its no biggie, i'll just delete your time. Haha just kidding! Post here!

that's cool, you can make the leaderboard however you want it. i still think there's value in having a high TPM without concern for time at all, if you just convince yourself time really doesn't matter heh. i like going for TPM sometimes in 40 lines. if it were just 10 lines you could make a total mess and keep stacking. if it were 100 lines then time and TPM would nearly coincide no matter what. 40 lines feels about right to me for that kind of challenge. but again it's fine if you want the TPM from the lowest time. mine also happened to be that way.

but you can watch the previews as you play and have a plan for the next few pieces. it would be unfair to not have that advantage at the beginning as well.

Okay the Time and TPM will be your all time best for each individually. The ranking on the leaderboard will be scored based on  ( (600-Time) + TPM  ) / 2 . Let me know what you think of that. You get a higher score for less time and higher TPM. Let me know if you have a better idea. I'm not sure if I should include this score in the rankings though.

ranking can just be time dude.

Otherwise everyone will spam 20 keys on their last line to increase tpm

QuoteLike many setups here, it is useful if your opponent doesn't move and you get 4 Ts in a row.

That is why I didn't want to put it initially. The main goal is to reach 300 TPM though, but I wouldn't mind scoring it better. If someone spammed at the end they would still lose some time. If there was  way to score it so that the time is more heavily weighted then spamming would work against them. Maybe we can factor in the keypresses and tetrominos used.

I'm open to suggestions for this.
