This is a tournament which will be run in the style of the Fifa World Cup. Thirty-two players (or another power of two) will enter, and only one will emerge victorious. :o

The winner gets the pride of having this rather lovely banner:

Now, here are the rules:

1. The Group stage will take place from the 15th to the 20th of July. There will then be a short break before the knockout round.

2. Times of matches should be organised between the two players of said matched, but the date is fixed, unless one of you has a problem with it.

3. This tournament will be seeded based on Tetris Friends Sprint times.

4. The first stage of this tournament will be the Group Stage. During this, you will play all the other three members of the group you are assigned to. The games will be played on Arena mode, and will be first to ten, with three points awarded for a win. One point will be awarded to a loser who finishes within three points of this opponent (eg if I beat my opponent 10-8, I would be awarded three points, and my opponent one). The two highest scoring members of the group will progress: one winner and one runner-up. If two members have the same number of points at the end of the Group Stage (assuming two winners have not already been decided), then the following criteria will be taken into consideration, in this order:

a) Total point difference from all three matches (this is the total number of single games won subtract the total number of single games lost).
B) The result achieved in the Group game that the players concerned played.

5. Sixteen players will then be put through to the first knockout round: The Last Sixteen. Once again the match played will be first to ten. The winner proceeds to the Quarter Finals.

6. Both players must report the score in this topic, unless a referee was present and watching the game. I will be recording all the games I can, and it'd be great if others could do the same.

7. If a player with an overdue match to be played does not either play said match or reschedule within two days, then they will most likely be disqualified. If this happens during the Group stages, the game score awarded to all other members of that group (regardless of whether or not they have already played the disqualified player) will be 10-5. This is so as to not award unfair Score differences to any player.






NOTE: It is up to the players to decide what DAS/ARR settings to use. I can provide an account with all the settings unlocked if necessary.

Hmm...

I'd join but considering that there's 12 players so far and they all have speeds under 1 minute. I'm not expecting to get far at all.
