BLINKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK NYOOOOOOOOOOOO...

Here is my photoshop edit of your preview to show you how it can look cleaner and better (Imo)

1. Background objects are darker than focus objects.
2. Extra padding to seperate things and make it look not squished.
3. Lining up of elements so that it doesn't break that ... visual structure. (eg. the nav/menu/header)
4. Less blocks = less confusion and messiness.
5. Border around the "Player of the Month" so that it appears to fit in.
( I think it needs to be a few shades lighter hmm...)

Wow rissa , thanks for taking the time to make that image. I agree with you, it's a nice improvement. I'll show my brother and ask him to adjust things, although this is far from finalized because I'm not 100% sure about the color scheme yet.

Black is for porn. If you want to shift the focus to streaming I suggest getting the streaming act together and moving smoothly before the redesign launches. It doesn't look very redesigned at all to be honest...

Like I mentioned in the first post, he only spent like 1 or 2 days on it total dating back to January. Give him some time to work on it in April (he won't be working on it all of March either) before noticing anything major. Changes will happen slowly over time.

I'm not TOO worried about the streaming situation, just looking to stream and have fun as we usually do except this time the streaming will be more prominent on the main page, that's about it. I'm pretty sure by the time the redesign launches (prob not till very late 2013), the situation will be improved. Not trying to turn into a professional channel or anything, so long as quality is improved and streaming is more consistent than now.

and iono what you're looking at.. it looks redesigned to a certain degree. i mean dat black.

personally i liked the grey tones better - reason being it looks more like a hardcore gamer site than other run of the mill forums..not sure what everyone has against it D: [n that's kinda bothering me cause i'm a color person D:]
i agree about the lining of things but i'm sure that's only cause blink's brother hasn't gotten to aligning everything properly..rough drafts are rough after all~

Blink answered my stream comment - I thought that's what he was talking about.

It looks redesigned in the way that you can jumble the letters in the middle of a word and still read it. I'm not complaining about it, just stating my thoughts.

And if he's working from my css rather than starting clean I feel REALLY bad for him. I know so much more now, if he wants to keep the design with the content blocks and responsive interface I can probably do a much better job now.

i don't see anyone else giving unconditional agreement, but you need to chill on your attitude. =_= it's a rough draft/sneak peek. no one said it was final.

the ss does not look anything like the current hd. I didn't say you were complaining about it.. but to say that it doesnt look redesigned at all is a stretch.

that's good you know more about designing websites now Blink's brother does it as a job. kthankx.

Again, this is a rough draft (spent about 2 days) and it will go through many iterations before it is launched to the public. I was thinking of implementing a fluid layout so that it adjusts according to your screen resolution, that way the majority of the screen is used up instead of having a layout with huge white spaces on larger screen resolutions (white space will be consistent throughout all devices). I also don't believe we have a mobile compatible version so I'll consider that when developing HDv2.

Just a note, the CSS was not taken from the existing CSS file. Secondly, you can not claim the CSS file is yours when clearly you did not create it. Now, you may have done some minor edits to it but the site looks exactly like it did when it first launched.

I'm not claiming that the CSS is 'mine', I was referring to the portion of the CSS that I added. I had trouble with the margins/padding to make everything line up, which is why I thought maybe you had inherited them. You are welcome to use it if you like, I was simply volunteering to clean it up if you wanted to make use of it.

If you haven't already, watch what happens when the HD mainpage gets narrowed, there's 2 stages. I didn't complete the menu transition for mobile yet (li -> select). Anyway, this is what I meant by responsive, and it helps the site out on mobile too.

I do think a site can be too wide; it can be hard to follow all the text across, so I favor the current layout over fluid. I suppose it'll depend on how the space gets used, of course.
