Quote from: RavendarkskyAlex there are more points to be had! even if it is a negligible amount. You can soft drop a piece for points and then HOLD it. free points =D.
Note: I've not played this version of tetris yet, just basing this on what's been said in the thread.
Haha remember when Tetris Online America deleted someone's record-breaking score on TF Marathon because it used the Soft Drop -> Hold trick instead of just admitting their game is a broken piece of crap?

I remember that.

Good times.

Humm... "Upload failed. You are not permitted to upload a file with that file extension." tried to upload excel - what should I do?
Put it in a zip file and try again. There was an unrelated forum upload issue. Blink resolved it.

Not sure if this has been missed out here but:

Say I have 1 line to go on #1.
I do a tetris and get points x1
I'm now on #2 with 3 lines cleared.

Better to do a tspinsingle (to keep b2b), clears one line and now i'm on # 2.
The tetris then gives pointsx2 ?

So in my head the perfect game is ONLY using TSTS and at any situation where Lines left is less than 3 do a TSD or a TSS until next level.

To fully optimise your score you would finish by getting to exactly one line left and then do a TST.
First of TSTS is TST's right?
You are right in theory, however I do belive that this way of playing would give you some problems not only becouse it would be extremly difficult to follow this system without a certain system to follow. Also im not sure if it would be possible to do that at the early levels. You would do TST - TSD - TSS every level untill 6. This creates a 8.4 high stack each level but you only clear away 6 lines. which results in a 14.4 high stack (minimum) once you reach a level where you have 10 lines and can clear it down with the TST's. In theory it looks ok, but in practice i have a hard time seeing people do this perfectly. Unless someone develops a system for it. Once the levels are 10 or 15 long this would be less of a problem. However then different systems would have to be used than at the 5lines levels.

Also TST gives as much points pre line as TSD.  So my system of doing a TSS and then ST stacking gives you a pretty good try at what you described. It does end perfectly at all levels with 10 lines in them and halv of the leves with 15 lines are treated perfectly. This half being the better half of it as the last level is transitioned to perfectly. (so at #15 you start out with 15 lines and doing TSD's you have 1 line left in the end)

I'll be looking into this more soon now that I've broken 1million on TF marathon

I will so test that  - not much points though but anyway. A slow soft drop setting would be preferable then too, when I come to think about it slow line clear too since it gives you more time to think
