Daggerfall, for one:

Morrowind, too, although that might be more recent than you actually mean. And where would I be without the Wing Commander series?

I was gonna include Monkey Island, but I saw that one was already mentioned. Bonus points to you.

I'm an admin over at Visionary Tales. Yeah, we're a role playing forum. Yes, this means I'm geekier than you are.

Yes, Oregon Trail!

Also Lemonade Stand and Lode Runner

even Alexey likes Lode Runner.... "Tetris designer Alexey Pajitnov claimed it to be his favorite puzzle game for many years.[6]"
love that game, think theres an iphone app for it
ello, wasup?:D

The oldest I've ever played was probably Cross Country Canada when I was grade 1 on the school computers. Importing and exporting 8-bit goods around Canada on a truck never felt better.

Other than that, AOE2.

I used to play tetris. I beat it. the end.

QuoteLike many setups here, it is useful if your opponent doesn't move and you get 4 Ts in a row.

Ah, Windows 3.1, such a lovely old medium for gaming.  Made 16 bit Megadrive seem cutting edge.

Used to play:
Mixed up Mother Goose

Kid Phonics

Always been rather partial to word games, even the basic forms presented in this.

"Rap-so-D-D-D-duh-dee-duh-d-D! Rhapsody."  The red horned lizard, that I can only assume is intended to be English, was always my favourite.  Couldn't stop listening to his song.  And the 'choose a word to take to the word builder' game was fun, also.

Spirale

the awsomeest game ever made :

You could create your own tracks really easily. It was really an addictive game.

I also played already cited whacky wheels, jazz jackrabbit, rodents revenge and ski free (although i never understood what the goal of that was). I remember playing tourneys of windows snake on my dads laptop vs my dad and my sister during holidays.

Another nice game : the Incredible Machine.

of course I never bought any of these games we  used them pirated floppy disks like real gangsters.
