Nullpomino Wednesdays

There will be a Nullpomino tournament, this Wednesday, at 9:30 PM EST.

SHOW UP EARLY IF YOU WANT TO PLAY! I CAN'T GUARANTEE YOU A SPOT IF YOU TRY TO JOIN AFTER 9:30!!!

The rules:

If you want to join, then join the Nullpomino lobby before the tournament begins (the earlier, the better!) to reserve a spot. The game format will change every week. The format for the tournament will be double elimination with up to 16 players. Players will be seeded based on previous results!

Specific rules for upcoming tournament:

(All rounds must be won by 2 points)
First to 5 for each round until Semi-Finals
First to 10 for Semi-Finals
First to 15 for Grand Finals

Game rules:

T-Spins only, same rules as TOJ

You can use whichever rule you want.

This is 3:30 am CET, which basically exlcudes all european players, especially on a normal weekday.

As far I know, editing the rule file (to tweak diagonal control, etc.) won't work, since rule-lock is enforced over the nullpo server, which sends the settings to the clients. Otherwise you could just create any rule file as you suggested, and name the rule str for example STANDARD-ZERO, and off you go, playing rule-locked rooms with it.
So if someone with an edited rule creates the room and enables rule-lock the other player now has to play with his rules.

I'm not talking about that, I'm talking about how the tournament always starts at least 30 minutes late, rarely do they even have a set of rules decided on by the time the tournament is supposed to start (and it almost always ends up being the same, all spins), always have some long, confusing process for seeding (first to 1 FFA, swiss, NEVER MIND LET'S JUST PUT EVERYONE IN AT RANDOM), they even make up the rules as they go along (is semi-finals first to 5 or first to 10? Aaaaah who cares) and it's no wonder so few people show up.

xlro: I didn't say we were using rule lock. I said "everyone should use this rule" but since an important option is missing to go with DAS min/max/delay, I said that you can change that if you want but leave everything else the same, since everyone will otherwise have to play with it off if rule lock is on.

Because people bitch whenever we would try anything different.

Swiss is neither long nor confusing, but people doesn't lend itself well to getting people to go to specific places easily. Random seeding is the easiest format for one-off events like this.

This comes down to problems in defining what semi-finals even are with the misalignment of Loser's Bracket, and -- again -- people bitching about random crap. "That's too long," "that's too short!"

NPW has gone downhill, but frankly there is no need to be an ass about it. You're trying to do one better and good on you for it.
