3DS Tetris

Just read that Hudson is making Tetris for the 3DS.  So what do you think the 3D will be like for such an obviously 2D game -- just textured blocks that stand out from the background or something?

i can't find anything concrete about it yet. maybe it will be like Blockout.

Maybe they'll add Blockout as an extra mode or something.  I imagine they'll probably be pretty lazy about just carrying over all the standard Tetris Party modes.  I hope they improve the rating system for wi-fi though and don't allow disconnections.  If the 3DS really does have good anti-piracy to stop people from cheating, a good rating system would actually be meaningful.

i suspect it'll be a 3D "Tetris Party Deluxe Deluxe". there'll probably be a few gimmick modes to take advantage of the 3D capability, like a toroidal tetris, or blockout, but mostly I see this as just an excuse to release another Tetris game now that a new handheld console is coming out.

a perspective view might be cool though, something like this:

That's what 3D Tetris for Virtual Boy was: a Blockout clone, except with a moving camera instead of a top-down camera.

It wouldn't even be necessary to use client-side anti-piracy features to validate matches; it could just send the replays back to the matchmaking server. But is there a console that hasn't been cracked within its lifetime? And no homebrew means no Lockjaw or other fan games.

He entered the initials KOR at the end, so I'd guess it was Koryan.

Man, the score counter tops out at 5 digits in Dekaris? That's not a very giant max score.

yeah of course it was him  don't know what i was thinking. i wonder if they thought it was likely anybody could max the score. he was the first on that machine, but a few others came close.

you mean the big mode with the tiny pieces? yeah i don't see the point.
