see OP. the core of BBBB would be players with accounts that do still work. if others want to join in, there's enough alt accounts to make that possible.

i contacted support to find out if the Playground exclusion of newly created GamePoint accounts was intentional and permanent:

We indeed moved Blockbox to the Playground in May 2014, as the game at the time still had a few players and removing it at once did not serve the community. This way existing players could still enjoy the game, knowing it would at some point be taken offline, while new players can only play our remaining games on www.gamepoint.com.
As Java (the software on which the game is based) is soon faced out on all browsers, the possibility to play the games on the playground will soon come to an end as well.

Unfortunately this means your new friends cannot play on the playground
