'Tetris Pop' is a game for J2ME mobile devices. The game consists of several minigames ("Mini-Variations") where the player must fulfill an objective in limited time. This game has cascade gravity in all game modes (even in Vanilla) and long ARE between pieces. A few minigames were later re-included in Tetris (PSP Mini) and Tetris (PS3).

Mini-Variations

Games in bold return in PlayStation games.

  • Vanilla: Clear specified number of lines before running out of time. No special conditions. (Renamed to Origin in later games)
  • Circuit: Connect tetrominos from leftmost starting cell to rightmost ending cell. Tetromino colors are randomized and the player must use the specified color. Placing a wrong color on the starting or ending cell causes an instant death.
  • Detonator: Connect all bomb blocks and the starting cell in the floor with any tetrominos. A bomb is considered "connected" when at least one block is touching either horizontally or vertically.
  • Erosion: Clear all orange garbage blocks on the field. Each garbage has 2HP and thus must be cleared twice.
  • Flood: Three garbage lines are added from the bottom for every few seconds. Survive until the time limit.
  • Furnace: Drop the tetrominos quickly to add heat. Reach the target heat value before running out of time and before completely filling the playfield. Line clear is disabled.
  • Ledges: Clear specified number of lines before running out of time. Some anti-gravity blocks ("Ledge blocks") are floating on the playfield, and the floor is bottomless. Any blocks which fall below the ledge blocks will disappear.
  • Limbo: The limbo bar moves down for every second. If the limbo bar reaches the existing stack, you are dead. Placing a piece or clearing lines move up the limbo bar. Survive until the time limit. (Renamed to Laser in later games)
  • Magnetic: Clear specified number of lines before running out of time. Red blocks slide to right and blue blocks slide to left when placed.
  • Meteors: Clear specified number of lines before running out of time. Several garbage blocks fall from top for every 3 pieces.
  • Scanner: Clear specified number of lines before running out of time. Full lines are not cleared until scanner is activated every 15 seconds.
  • Split: Clear specified number of lines before running out of time. Playing field is split in a left and right half and the player switches between the field for every piece.
  • Stacker: Stack many blocks on a garbage block to crush it. Crush them all before the time limit.
  • Touchdown: Quickly clear the garbage lines on the playfield and reach the bottom before the time limit. You win when at least one block reaches the floor after clearing lines or when a tetromino is placed on the floor.
