The Pelican Opener is like Albatross; a single bag opener that results in a platform T-Spin Double and is usually followed by a T-Spin Triple. In case of an S piece start it is always executable, if J piece shows up before L and O. In order to finish the T-Spin Triple in the second bag, the O, I, S and L pieces must be placed like shown in the fifth diagram.
Third Bag and derivations
There is a nice continuation, if the T-Spin Triple is finished in the second bag. In this case the third bag's pieces can be be placed in a way that results in a T-Spin Double followed by a chance for a Perfect Clear after 3 further lines (after 10 cleared lines in total, 20.48% chance).
If Perfect Clear is not possible, one may set up a T-Spin Double.
|
If O comes before L, Perfect Clear after 10 lines is still possible (13.6% chance). If Perfect Clear is not possible, one can make a T-Spin Triple in one of the two following ways. 5-bag Perfect Clear after the TST is a possible follow-up.

Riviclia's Pelican
One can go for a Perfect Clear after 14 lines with this continuation. In the second bag, L needs to come before S and T before Z. In the third bag, the J, S, Z and O can be placed in one of the three following ways. In the fourth bag, LJO can be placed in one of the two following ways. Finally, a Perfect Clear is always possible in the fifth bag. 11 solutions are shown. This setup is invented by a Korean player Riviclia.
