NEStrisivus April 19

As seen in Ecstasy of Order, April 19 is the date upon which NES Tetris was first officially maxed-out by Harry Hong in 2009, much to the dismay of Jonas Neubauer for April 19 also happens to be his birthday.

To commemorate this very special date in Tetris history, we hereby present "NEStrisivus", a celebration of all things NEStris!

On April 19, we will henceforth gather around the aluminum long-bar all day:

Bo Stiel keeps getting all the neat side-game maxes before I do!

(Seriously, though, Bo is the man! I shouldn't even say "before I do" in that I haven't YET gotten any of them )

Feats of strength: going to go for a Level 19 max today! (I may even stream it   )


I am going to push for a few other things off and on throughout the day as well:

Using Game Genie to force pieces to fall at Level 19 rate, I will start on Level 00 and go for max (there's no killscreen)

"Perfect" 19-1

Using Game Genie, I will try to break 1,000,000

Non-traditional max-out (Levels 11,13,15, or 17)

here's how:

• Extract Nestopia
• Put Tetris.nes (Google is your friend) into its folder
• Replace kailleraclient.dll with latest version: Go to http://www.kaillera.com/download.php and extract it out from "Kaillera client SDK v0.9" link.
• Open Nestopia
• File > Open > Tetris.nes
• Options > Cheats > Permanent code: Add...
• Click "Game Genie" radio button
• Insert code: VUXEILXX
• Validate
• Submit
• OK
• File > Close
• Netplay > Connect
• Add > Tetris.nes
• Select Tetris.nes > Launch...
• In "all servers" tab, select a server with a decent ping and connect.
• Create new game > Tetris.nes
• Player 2 joins
• Start
