edit: derp i though  this was the zeromeaner thread.

QuoteLike many setups here, it is useful if your opponent doesn't move and you get 4 Ts in a row.

I've been playing Sprint on Level 15 for a number of reasons. SZO starts are no longer a deathtouch, I can try to use a bit of high gravity finesse to avoid tapping as much, and I can set my DAS settings faster. The trade-off is that I sometimes have to contend with some odd SRS floorkicks (or on the opposite side of the spectrum, that one unfortunate case where S/Z refuse to rotate), which becomes more troublesome if the stack isn't flat. However, some of the floorkicks can also be used to "pull" pieces in advantageous ways as well, which can cut out even more d-pad inputs if you can get used to it.

I may have said it in this thread already, but I'm really bummed that there is no key config if only for the fact that it means I can't use L to Hard Drop -- that alone would likely solve a lot of the d-pad hand cramps, as well as make DAS preservation much more intuitive.

Also, seconding caffeine's requests. 60hz, please.

On a different note: I don't know if anyone noticed, but Escalation fixed the Line 1 carry-over trick. You can still do one b2b at the end of Level 15 to finish things off, of course, but removal of that trick on the level transitions means that you're clearing single-single combos and nothing else for pretty much the entire game.

No key config is a total deal breaker for me. I can't play using rotate with my right hand. I need the controls flipped lefty style at the very least. (hold my ds upside down and play in some sort of mirror setups ?

I will be waiting for the pc version.

You could set your 3DS on a table, cross your hands, and claw the buttons with your fingers, but then I guess you couldn't use hold.

So yeah... if you go on the leader boards and manage to beat a replay of a higher-ranked Sprint player's time (beating your own time in the process of course), you won't be able to register that new time.

Found that out after playing an hour to shave off a second, and then I hop online and shave two more seconds on the first try but it didn't count...

it only counts if you disable identical queue, this counts for every highscore

Just curious, do we know if the PC version will have key rebind options?

Bought the game yesterday, in my very limited Tetris experience it seems great so far. I'd really like to be able to pre-rotate the pieces though, and the main "Next Block" window would be so much easier to glance at if it was just above the score window instead.

Any tips on specific things to focus on to get better? I'm mostly playing Sprint at random levels at the moment, my best time so far of 02:11 is not very good compared to the leaderboards. But I think it might be better to start playing Ultra or Marathon and get better at setting up Tetrises before trying to do things really fast...

Yes, I would say practising slowly is definitely going to be beneficial. Even if you just play Sprint and take your time with things. Learn to stack clean before you speed things up.

Line clear delay customizable pls
Absolutely disagree.
The fact that you might not be used to the line clear delay, doesn't make the game any better by making it customizable!
It's the same for everyone; that's the best condition for competition/battle/leaderboards. Deal with it?

I understand your point but the same as we have a leaderboard for sprint with all the people and not different for each das , bag, SRS etc etc (and thats good i mean i think the same as you) , why not put line clear delay customizable and the people that see the top 100 people using it will make other people to use it and improve
At least they have to reduce it or make friends room a option to change that in the same room and in the same moment and by that thing it will not affect public rooms and leaderboard

Yeah, ideally you would be given full customization options on private/friends matches.
For public battles/leaderboards, imo it is best to have some set rules. Or have separate leaderboards, something like: "championship rules", which have some set rules, and "free rules", at which you have full customize options.
In this fixed line clear delay example, you can always argue what is best to use. Eventually, it comes down to personal preference. I think it's good to have line clear delay fixed, because it determines the strength of the combination of tetrises/t-spins/combos/downstacking.
I think that's what make great players great. The ability to adapt and determine the best strategy, given some fixed rules, instead of quickly complaining that something sucks.
I mean, casual players often say that each game is the same, why buy another version? We know that the core gameplay is indeed identical, which is good, but that each game distinguishes itself in details. Imo these details lies in what fixed rules have been chosen.

I kind of like the line clear delay. It changes the game flow a lot, punishing misdrops and inefficient downstacking, and weakening combos. It's not ideal for Sprint, but gives the game its own character in multiplayer.
