New Tetris Game

I'm looking for people who want to beta test a new tetris game I'm working on. Currently it has multiplayer but it only works over lan so you would need to either have something like hamachi or tunngle if you want to play over the internet.

The game plays like a normal vs game except you gain mana and when you have enough mana, you can use skills. The skills can alter your field or your opponents field or do other different things. That's the general idea of the game so far.

If you think you would be interested in testing the game and giving feedback, reply to this thread or send me a PM. There are a limited number of spots for beta testers so don't feel bad if I don't pick you. If all goes well, the game will be released to the general public in about a week.

edit: I'm looking for players of all skill levels.

For OSX users, you will have to use a service such as Hamachi since Tunngle is not currently supported on OSX.

If you have trouble connecting to the other players, be sure to allow java through your firewall.

It actually plays very similar to that game, but on a much faster pace since there are no line clear delays and no animations that stop the game.

Looks good to me - it's not SRS spins is it? At least, it doesn't look that way to me. Let me know if I'm wrong though.

I believe its SRS spins with the exception that 180 kicks dont work.

Currently there are 3 ways to get mana. Regen over time, perform combos, and use the more mana skill. I'm still working on trying to balance the game better so things may change over time.

Some differences in this game from other games:

There isnt garbage blocking/canceling right now. When you receive garbage, all of it will add after 1 second.

The game follows TOJ garbage rules except that combos are capped at sending 3 lines/line clear.

100% random garbage.

Is it just me or does the Two-wide skill not look useful? But yes, it's looking great. Though 100% garbage looks brutal.

2 wide actually sends to the opponents field and makes them have to fill the gap before they can do anything. it would be terrible to use it on yourself.

You can play without a connection but its not as fun to play by yourself. In the first video I'm playing against myself but basically its impossible to win. Anything you do will get sent right back too you. Currently there is no AI to play against.

Sounds good to me. What are the das/ar levels like? As good as bb/np?

I actually used the BombStepper game to mod into this game so the Tetris part plays similar to that one.

DAS is customizable from 3-12 I think.
AR can either be 1 or instant.
