Yeah, it's easy to play one of the first two sections "too fast." I find that 2-5G speeds are much more awkward with SRS since I'm unsure if my rotations will happen safely in the air or cause unexpected kicks. At lower speeds or after the transition to 20G, I have a better idea of what to expect.

If you have a tall stack at 70, a medium stack at 170, and a short stack at 270, that should give a bit of slack on each section to account for slight speed variance. Also, stacking high on x70-x99 will help you have some material to clear so you can reach the next section's x70 faster.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one who struggles with that section  For my purposes I've turned on the level timer and I intentionally make the first two levels last as long as I can without getting regrets.

70- -> Play as fast as I can
70+ -> Downstack any mistakes
99 -> Upstack until just before the regret time

This should help me get GM but it won't help me beat fast times +D

What I've been doing:
0-70 Stack as high as possible, have I in hold.
70-99 Tetrises
Break level barrier with a tetris

Because the section 1-4 COOLs are so lax, I can do without clearing many lines until after.

Cool, I wasted about 20 hours playing World GM3 in fu**ing broken a** input laggy Nullpo to find out the tournament is cancelled. Nice!

I do think a lot more people actually tried the challenge, but just
never reported anything, what's the point of adding to the list
if you are not gonna be in the top 5 or 10?
I remember I didn't post anything  until I got something decent, like after about a week or 2

Smooth move promising people money and then calling it off with no warning. That's pretty cool. Putting blame on everybody but yourself too, that takes class.

The proper way to handle an interest threshold would be to have a signup period, rather than abruptly abort almost two months into the thing. If you don't want to run it anymore, you should hand it off to someone else or at least pay out to the current winners.

Yes, you guys are right, I should reward the people who gave it a try instead of punishing the community as a whole. Ill put back up the ranking list when I get home from home. The frustration caused this different point of view. keep on posting.

Can I see the player list with their achievement so I can see my position ?
I know I won't win the prize, just I want to see how I'm doing compared to other players. That'll make me try this challenge more...

Currently it's hard for me to even reach 'M1' (only once in every 3-5 games)
