Probably stuff that was set fairly early in development, before TF improvements came along. If it's being made by a separate team to TF then I wouldn't be too surprised that it doesn't implement some of the better features.
Yeah, it's EA this time, just like PSP Tetris.

real question is: How much is the game going to be? cause if it's 50 bucks, .. . I'll play it if someone gives it to me as a present..... haha but I probably will not buy it.
It's going to be a downloadable title, so expect a pricetag in the range of $5~15.

and why did Blink think there would only be ONE preview? lol even for Tetris mobile they give you.. at least 3 previews right?
Previous screenshots of the 4P screen layout had only a single preview and hold. Similarly, Tetris Party Deluxe has a really cramped layout for 4P with 3 previews going the wrong way down the screen, as opposed to its regular layouts with 5 (?) previews.

Do you think they'll allow us to change our gamepad buttons like on Tetris Splash?  Anybody know if EA's previous Tetris console games had changeable button configs?

2) looks/sounds way better, clean interface, hotter animations and attacks/line clears that actually sound fun to perform
3) focused on spectators (TPM & lines sent counter, clear large attack text, HD graphics/sound)
4) can view opponents piece previews, keeping that part of strategy intact
But TF have none of this features and still you were saying it's good game and future of competetive tetris . So i am bit confused.

Yeah but TF is backed by TTC and has an extremely prominent place on Google searches, so it doesn't need to be quite so compellingly good.

If nullpomino is going to get anywhere it'll have to be much better than TF, not just equal to.

I think blink was more referring to TF having potential to be a good game. It is nowhere near a good game as it stands in my opinion, but I would agree it has potential due to the mass of players and being backed by the company.

Are inferring that Nullpomino is equal to TF? O_o

What nullpo lacks in my opinion is ease of access and that is about it. Besides that here are bugs and some things that are still in development. It is on the right track.

What nullpolmino needs is million's of dollars of resources to back it up and get its name out like tf.  The thing is it ain't going to happen unless ttc decides to endorse/sponsor or some really rich guy wants to invest in a half decent tetris game.  Too bad from what I have seen hd is made up of mostly high schoolers and college kids which last I checked tend not to have the highest incomes.

too bad money ttc have won't magically fix their games.

Nullpo can still gain a good amount of popularity. It's goal isn't to make money anyway so no one needs a huge amount of players to be satisfied. All we need to do is get 20+ on average daily and I would be happy.

I think they're using a completely new gameplay mechanic for the "Team Battle" mode, taken from here:

http://www.ea.com/news/ea-brings-the-defin...perience-to-ps3

[!--quoteo--][div class=\\\'quotetop\\\']QUOTE[/div][div class=\\\'quotemain\\\'][!--quotec--]“Team Battle” is the ultimate competitive match-up that allows two teams of two to play against one another, alternating between offense and defense as they compete for the win.[/quote]

Alternating between offensive and defensive?  Sounds interesting.

What a relief. :-/

I assume what they mean is that when one team is up near the top, they have to defend, but then they can be on the offensive when they have cleared lines, and the opponents can be on the defensive. Nothing new to see here.

Nah, I think what they actually mean is something along the lines of one player only being able to send lines, and the other player receiving them all, which I think could be pretty novel and interesting.

Unless it is just to make the blurb more exciting rather than a proper gameplay mechanic, in which case yeah, nothing really of note.

actually Woj, they dont have all that much money for each game. what money they do have goes into advertising so that they can make money, and attempting (and failing) to fix the more major bugs in game.

iphys

They spend money on advertising?  About the only place I've seen Tetris games advertised is on TF, and I'm not too sure how effective it is to advertise to people that already know about Tetris and know they can play it for free.  Actually, I did once see an ad for Tetris at another website, but it was an advertisement for TF.

Sites are reporting the release date as "very early 2011" now, pushed back from the original December 2010 release date.
