Not all the elites would move to sonic drop. You're sacrificing control for speed. I'd rather have control. And if people stopped playing without sonic drop I'd probably just leave tf.
More like sacrificing a bunch of slow, poor recovery options and only one Prophecy setup to make the nicer recovery options faster, but alright.

Have you ever tried using sonic drop? You probably should give it some time in a game that has it before passing judgment. People keep complaining about a reduction of their movement palette, but I can only see it opening things up. It makes use of slides and twists much, much more viable. Whereas I'd be hesitant to take the time with a slow soft drop, I'd definitely go for the clean recovery every time with a sonic drop.

Yes, I have used sonic drop, and I don't like it.

Yeah, I've also tried sonic drop on Blockbox and would MUCH rather have a faster soft drop than a sonic drop.

I'd rather have sonic drop than soft drop in BB.

And you know what, I'm gonna start using it on Nullpo, too.

Boingloing

sonic drop saves a lot of time on nullpo. standard_zero has it.

This sounds a lot like the argument "I tried rotating both ways but I just don't like it, I would rather only rotate one way."

or "Using a double rotate button doesn't really help me play faster, I would rather just waste time and press the rotate button twice"

But, I don't care to argue sonic drop verses soft drop. To me sonic drop is more logical, but this is another example on why what seems most logical to many veteran players isn't the desired rule for others. This is why TF can't have nice things

I thought we already agreed 10 pages ago that
it would be good to have it not connected to room settings,
but customisable like das
so everyone can set it to their own liking?

You can't really fix misdrops with a fast soft drop like TOJ's lvl5, which is what we all want, right?? What you end up doing is, soft dropping for a tiny fraction of time and then waiting for gravity to lower the piece to the desired level. This type of fix is impractical. You shouldn't ever need to fix a situation in this manner anyway. Thus, there really is no reason why you should prefer a fast soft drop over sonic drop unless you're a combo scrub. j/k

With that said, I don't care whether it's a fast soft drop or sonic drop, as long as it's changed. The current soft drop speed is atrocious.

Even though I don't play TF, I just want to say, sonic drop ftw!

Blockbox only has sonic drop, and whenever I play, most of my misdrops and stuff can be fixed with sonic drop. There have only been a few times when I needed a soft drop to fix a misdrop. Sonic drop can do probably 90% of what soft drop does, but it has a huge speed advantage.

Also, I use sonic drop on nullpomino. c;

also, a lot of misdrops that you would think to need soft drop can be fixed with sonic drop + double rotation.

I'll just withhold my opinions from now on, since it seems rare that one can respectfully comment on anything.

I reckon they won't put in sonic drop anyway whatever we say for the same  reason that they won't put instant ar.

It does sort of go against TTC's ideas... With sonic drop and instant AR, you can pretty much play a piece faster than most people can follow it. They want to make the games accessible to everyone, and that means spectators should know what's going on.  We'd be the only ones in "Expert HD", but I can still see how they'd be hesitant to add it.

You're opinion is as valid as anyone elses! c;

When I showed my friends my 1:04 sprint record a year ago, they couldn't follow it. So in the end, whatever ttc's motives, no randomer would be able to follow a top level game
