Thoughts on my Tetris Tutorial vid?

Just a video for beginners with some basic information in. Please let me know what you think, and how it could be improved.

My next video is gonna be about rotation and t-spins and I'm gonna try and cover basic T-spins, Z-stacking etc. Is there anything that I should definitely include.

Finally, for this video I need a record a TST on TF, which I'm having a little trouble doing. Anyone think they could give me a guide for the easiest method?

Thanks.

i thought the production was great. it would be nice to have just a little more time to read the longer annotations though.

if you want to make a TST you could set it up this way, which is pretty straightforward, but you might have to restart a time or two to get the pieces in the right order:

Nice video.

Marathon mode has a wacky scoring system, DumblesdoreArmy explains how you can achieve a highscore on it:

This might help you perform TSTs: http://harddrop.com/wiki/T-Spin_Triple

A tip for your future videos: you want to give more time during text parts so people have enough time to read it rather than having to pause the video.

When you're ready, you can also add your videos to the hard drop video system:

http://harddrop.com/account/submit/add-video/mode_stream/

Also about your future videos, make sure if you are teaching others something that you have that technique down and can explain it clearly.  I was sort of worried when I saw you say you would "try" to cover some things in your next videos, but I am looking forward to seeing your creations.

cool idea summing up most of the basic tetris tips

1) text needs to be shorter and more to the point or shown longer, fades out too quickly

2) don't use copyrighted music for this, it might/will just get muted / taken down

"Easy" way to b2b tst, not the easiest way to tst but a way to b2b them quite easily.  Just ignore anything after frame 24

this one though should work every time. of course you'll have to vary the stacking  The downside though is that it leaves quite a mess behind once the TST is made

that's a fine mess to have with the twist rewards in TPD

QuoteLike many setups here, it is useful if your opponent doesn't move and you get 4 Ts in a row.

DrPete

first off, let me congratulate you on your choice of soundtrack (i have that album )

as others have said, the text is a little fast

a point specific about this video: people of the skill level this is targetted at might get confused when you build your stack demoing the tetris and clearing singles (it might be too fast for them to follow, and you use hold before you introduce it in the video). consider editing out the parts where you're building your stack for these parts

all in all I'm definitely looking forward to the next one, t-spins are something I still haven't learnt properly. good job

Thanks for the input, guys.

I've started making the next vid, and it should be up soon. Thanks to everyone's help, I finally managed to record a TST!

EDIT: Here's the new video. Once again, comments and criticisms are welcome. I may edit it in the future, since atm it feels a bit... messy. Idk, I can't really explain it. Maybe you can?

Nice, I was revisiting this "dead" shape today and found this as well. Major props. Very helpful thing to know.

Noogy

nice video editing skillz, some tutorials more geared towards multiplayer gameplay would be nice

I liked it immensely.
It was good for beginners with very basic stuff, but it was better than just "Get Lines"

The layout of it was tremendously good vs Windows Movie Maker.

So, a thumbs up for you!!
