It's been decided that Hard Drop will have an official team consisting of about 5 of the most dominant players in the competitive Tetris scene to represent us at any upcoming LAN or online tournaments and events.

If it is discovered that males and females will have seperate tournaments in the future, HD will be looking for the top 3 females to form the official female HD roster as well, but for now we are just looking for the top players in general.

The following players have been invited to take up 4 of the 5 spots on the team roster:

1. Blink (Accepted and on team)
2. Trance (Accepted and on team)
3. hebo-MAI (Accepted and on team)
4. SAMAF (TBD)
5. HD Invite Tournament winner (will be held over several games and game formats, see below)

Should any of the 3 invited players reject their spot on the team, we will replace them with someone else.

Benefits

Depending on what sponsors we are able to acquire for the team, benefits can range from Travel expenses compensation, Team clothing/gear to wear at events, Gaming keyboards, gaming equipment (headsets, mice, gaming mousepads with team logo), PC hardware, and more.

Requirements:  

You are expected to handle several responsbilities in order to keep your spot on the team.  These include:

- Submit a photo of yourself to be displayed on the team page, as well as give some of your details (country, pc specs, short bio, etc.)

- Attend future major Tetris tournaments wearing the team clothing (Tetris tournaments are rare, if one comes up you must attend - especially if airfare is handled for you by a sponsor.)

- Plug harddrop.com and our sponsors if you are interviewed during an event.

- Maintain your skill.  If it is found that you no longer put in any playing time or are no longer dedicated to the team, you will be dropped.

- Show up to practice, there will be scheduled practice sessions maybe once every week or two.

The Hard Drop Invitational
To fill in the 5th spot for the roster, there will be an invite tournament held on TOJ (with 2 different patch settings to emulate console settings) and TF Live.

Well I live in a completely different part of the world. So I think I could benefit the team in the southern hemisphere. Especially if New Zealand picks Tetris this year to send to the WCG and not guitar hero (I'm currently the national/(asian/pacific) champion) I'd enter (assuming it's picked) and I know of no decent players in New Zealand or Australia. I really am only into TFLive atm and I've been getting back into TDS/Splash. Got a 40.16sec sprint in Lockjaw DS but plan on breaking that and I've been doing pretty well in Tetris Splash online.

Also a big tetris splash tournament is coming up here: tspinweekly.com in march and they say there are prizes. I'll try out if that's fine, my computer's being fixed but should be back in the next couple days then I'll setup TOJ.

Oh yeah good choice on the team btw.

I think there should be a handle under pressure phase of the tournament. This is where each player must play while being watched by thousands of screaming fans to see who is most prepared for harddrop stardome. The qualifier tournament would be fun to watch!

this sounds like a cool idea, and i really appreciate being invited for the TOJ tourney
unfortunately i don't think i would be able to fly to tournaments. there are times when i'm obligated to work, even on weekends, so it just isn't possible for me to guarantee i'd be available. good luck to everyone else competing.
