as i posted before i AM addicted, so playing frequently isn't my biggest problem especially now that i'm focused only on sprint.
Right now i'm working on more efficent rotations/faster placement (i used to have to pause each time to even get a piece down!) plus using the hold key less, its seriously killing my time. as well as blinks wealth of information, i maxed out the key repeat rate on my macbook, it made a WORLD of difference

I remember that you gave me that advice when I was starting to play on BB, didn't follow it I can't just play 30 minutes
Do you mean you couldn't follow it because you wanted to play more than 30 minutes? It's meant to mean that you play at least 30 minutes everyday. The whole point of it is that it's easy to take some days off, and those days can turn into a week. Playing every single day without fail is the secret here. Of course you can play more than 30 minutes and still get an X. More the better!

Changing your OS's keyboard repeat rate will affect Tetris Friend's in-game autorepeat? That's news to me.

It doesn't. DAS is ~15 frames start-up and 20hz rate. You can't do anything to change it.

Yeah, I was trying to be sarcastic I guess it's harder to do over the internet

I don't know if you would consider this cheating or not, but you could consider trying to beat Blink in Blockbox.   His time is like, 28 seconds on Blockbox, but I find it a lot easier and faster to improve my 40 lines time in Blockbox than in Tetris Friends.

Its easier to improve on blockbox, but blinks time is really good there too.

I improved a ton on blockbox but my tetris friends time didnt change at all haha

If you're going aiming to beat his time on TF, I would suggest that you play NO other Tetris variant, such as BlockBox or Cultris. The only other tip I have for you is to master the basics, and the little things.

Such as;
-Knowing CW CCW at ALL times, by INSTINCT alone.
-Never EVER T-spin or soft drop.
-Leaving the Tetris column on the right rather than the left will also improve your time, since the well is 10 wide and the center of your spawning piece lands on 5, meaning 4 to the left and 5 to the right.

That's all I've come across so far, and people correct me if I'm wrong because I'm new to this game! Good luck though, I have faith in you!

i've been playing for awhile, so i'd like to think that i've got the basics down (doing tetrises, etc.) but you guys ARE helping a bunch.
As is the positive reinforcement!

Also, i'm sure changing the key repeat rate doesn't reconfigure the game, however it IS noticeably smoother.

YES! This is so true! I got 47 seconds on Tetris Friends on Facebook. I played Blockbox for a few months, and then I played Tetris Friends just for fun.

I couldn't even get under a minute after like 20 tries.

THE ONE YEAR CHALLENGE HAS NOW OFFICIALLY BEGUN: 365 days to go

I'm looking forward to 2010 being one nonstop cascade of tetriminos, of course your support & expertise is still very much welcomed. Right now i'm working on my "Finesse Scheme" to boost efficiency.

I'll probably throw up another video to youtube when I beat 50 seconds, hopefully not too far away.

Lastly, A happy Halloween to all! (if you believe in that sort of thing)

good luck. if you really practice over this year, i think you have a good shot.  the best thing to do is to keep trying even if you dont seem to be improving.  i was at :50 for over a month, then one day i randomly got :47, and a week later i got :45.  my goal is also to beat blink at one variant or another, so *cheers.

i thought u meant in multiplayer so i instinctively hit no.

However i think it is possible.

I've been playing tetris for around a year and 5 months now. (started june last year~)

My sprint time is now 45~.

I learned that playing lots of different types of tetris will increase ur speed faster than just drilling the same type (for TF sprint at least) the reasons are simple:

The DAS and AR are sh**. Your fingers will get tired after less than 30 minutes. You cannot beat any records once your fingers get tired. After 30 minutes of FB TF i recommend playing another variant such as lockjaw/blockbox.

Also dont bother learning 2step finesse. It is pointless when you cannot instant-das to wall and the charge is so long.

I personally use a mix of 2-3step finesse (2step for right hand side because i primarily use right rotate and only use leftrotate when using T/L/J/I, 3 step for left hand side because i'm using right rotate and moving left = gg fail) for lockjaw, however for TF i use 4-5 step finesse which gives me much lower times than 2-3 step finesse.

I'm assuming u're playing the Facebook one.

I believe in u

QuoteLike many setups here, it is useful if your opponent doesn't move and you get 4 Ts in a row.

Quote from: caffeineConsider the chain method. A year's worth of a more-or-less unbroken chain of 30 minutes a day, and you'll be beating blink in 40 lines and multiplayer.
Considering how complacent people have become recently, I think that it's very possible that you will eventually be able to beat Blink in multiple disciplines. However, it will take a lot of commitment.

This isn't the first time that I've seen the chain method suggested (not the first time I've seen caffeine mention it, either), and although it looks promising, there is a difference of opinion about what the best course of action is when you plateau (yes, when; it will happen, and probably more than once): Do you keep playing through the periods when you're not improving, or do you take a break from it for a while? Ultimately, that's a decision that only you can make.

Good luck. You can do it, honey...
It is only when you open your mind, that you will be able to see how beautiful the world is...

Alright, let's get one thing straight: I. PLAY. ALOT. Everyday, whether i've plateaued or not. So i really don't think that discipline or commitment are issues at all.

And no, i'm not using the facebook one. Quit facebook a couple years ago after my mom got it  . Frankly i think the entire idea of it is a little creepy.
