I've never gotten into or even ever played any type of game like that, but I'm not gonna lie I took a look at their website and it looks pretty sick.  Does it cost anything to play?  I just finally signed up for FB today so idk about spending even MORE time online but if it's free I may check it out.

Yeah for me says you need Beta Key and for now DoTA is fine when I need to step away from Tetris, which is rarely now.  Next game I'll probably actually get into is Diablo III.
