if anyone can't get the launcher to work, and has to launch the game from the website, they made some changes and the new game launch button looks like this:

it's near the top left of the page, but not quite as noticeable as before.

That launcher on TOJ's page doesn't work for me. It just opens up a new window with japanese words that i don't understand. And the launcher provided hasn't worked for me.

Yeah same problem here. The funny thing is the pop-up looks like it describes how to actually set everything up. : )

I dont feel like doing screenshots so I think this is the link to to pop-up I keep getting. Pop-up
Maybe I dont have the right verson of Active x or something (as that is all I can make out).

make sure you're using Internet Explorer, and go to Tools->Internet Options. click on the Security tab, then click on Custom Level. the ActiveX options should be near the top of the list. set them like this:

Download signed ActiveX controls -- Prompt
Download unsigned ActiveX controls -- Disable
Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe -- Disable
Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins -- Enable
Script ActiveX controls marked safe for scripting -- Enable

these settings work for me, without being prompted constantly. you should be prompted to install the control at www.tetrisonline.jp when you click on game start, and after you've installed it you won't be prompted again.

btw i'm using Internet Explorer 6, but it should be similar for later versions.

do anyone know why so many japanese players have *'s in thier nicknames?

few random examples:
red*as*846
yui*shi_*6*9

That must be players using their Yahoo-ID to play.
Seems like you can't pick a name then, and some characters of your ID are hidden.

Not sure tho since I only use regular TOJ-Accs.

There are several in a series but all i'm getting is one particular block instead of the one i fancy.

Its in series 1 and called 'ceramic' but all i get is the 'star'

Anything i overlooked?

The shop gives you a mino at random, you can't choose which one you want.  Also, they aren't permanent, they give you a certain amount of uses so if you get the same mino more than once, your amount of available uses increases.

The HD TOJ theme created by virulent uses the ceramic skin you want though, you might want to look into that.

Items/customisations purchased through the ingame client are random.

It is possible to choose which customisation to purchase. This must be done on the TOJ website (3rd link from the right on the white/silver horizontal menu. It costs 3x as much TP but you at least you can choose.

I've noticed that over time, the availability of items you've used before refills slowly. How this works, I am not entirely sure.

its not # of uses, but from my observation its based on time, you can use it for 30minutes. I'd run a test, but I've  lost time in 1v1 room and it was docked even though I didn't play all the time. Not to mention I'm saving TP for upgrades.

Also noted that theres a lockout of solo/practice when your premium 24hr is about to end.

I'm using the harddrop theme   right now minus the matrix which i prefer to be black. This ceramic block is much easier on the eyes tho toj is still a lot more tiring than TF:P

Lol even expert rooms on TF seem so slow and laggy compared to toj.
