Confirmation of Mystery Player 'Blade'

It has been confirmed earlier to day that Blade is actually exchliore. Kudos to him playing Blockbox and I hope he decides to walk away from Blockles for good. I had played with exchliore many many times on TNET2 before it shut down, and I hope that other former TNET2 players will arrive back on the scene as well. For me to poop on.

Why?  Just because Rosti (who is biased towards Blockbox) says that Blockbox is better and promotes it over other options doesn't mean that everyone should follow suit.  So far, I've only seen people on this forum discriminate among Tetris players when it's supposed welcome players from all games.  The message I see is, "if you play Blockles, we don't want your kind here".

Blockles is a well developed, solid, and all around decent game.

How is this any different than you forcing your opinion on me?  One person makes a statement towards me and what I do.  I respond and everyone else wants to pitch in and say I'm wrong and that I should just get with the program.

That's why it's an opinion it's the way I think, I don't look down on blockles players I just recommend them to play Blockbox and if they don't like it I don't start insulting them or anything. And I'm sure blockles players are welcome here and I don't hope blockles gets shut down

I know the only message I ever try to give out is "You play Blockles, play Blockbox instead." - still no less one-sided, but there's no real animosity towards you being here in there.

It's a frequently seen thing among Tetris games though. [Aside from a couple of players] all I ever heard from people who play Cultris and on the most part TNET as well was that the members of TetrisConcept were retarded because they played Tetris DS and TGM. That opinion was largely reflected back as well.

Plenty of people have honed their skills on a particular game, and won't play others because the gameplay is different, and justify it with a mere "it sucks".

I've whored myself around a bit on a fair few Tetris games, and can usually at least justify why I think Blockbox is a better online game than <insert game here>. Cultris and Quadra I don't like because I feel that combos and recursive gravity (respectively) reward crappy stacking more than perfect stacking. The latter at least I can acknowledge that there's some sort of crazy skill there, which I just flat out can't do. I was alright at Cultris, but just didn't like having to play the way you have to if you want to win. TNET/Blocktrix sucks IMO because the well is too wide and the pieces have random initial spawn orientations, so you can't develop any sort of real finesse and mind-numbing speed. On the plus side I liked the garbage and custom DAS. This said, I'm usually happy to play a few games on Blocktrix or Quadra against players who aren't specialised in them.

Blockles I have no time for merely because the controls it gives you are stupid (I could write an entire post on why it's bad to use UP to rotate), and I couldn't see any way to actually change them (though I didn't bother registering). If you start off on that game and don't realise how stupid the controls are, I could see why you'd give it merit, because otherwise it's respectable.

And people shouldn't diss items. They add an extra level of strategy (and fun) and were one of my favourite things on Tetris DS. I think there should always be an option to play without, but I think it's dumb to criticise people for saying they shouldn't exist at all.

There aren't many Tetris modes I would say were flat-out just awful, except for Tetris Friends (score-based modes have fucked up scoring systems, and TT modes have no speed without super-tapping, though Survival is good) and TGM with SRS, because that's just a dumb way to play Tetris and it's not how the game was designed to be played.

Tetris is not just Tetris, some people need to accept that. Different people have different tastes, and most Tetris clones are just as objective to judge as most bands are.

PS. Blockbox is easily the best Tetris game ever made for the PC ever.  Fact.
