I remember talking to some Tetris folks about this site, and I think I'm not the only one who spent some time on it. If you have, be aware that they seem to be implementing a new policy which will charge $2 a month for inactive accounts. You can cancel your account by contacting support, I guess - that's the only way I was led to believe I could do it, since I didn't accept the new ToS and therefore couldn't use the site proper (including the FAQ, lol.)

Just a heads-up.

Edit: Some of you might see this thread and get curious what I'm talking about, or even sign up. Be warned that the exposure here may mean you wind up playing people who are good at Tetris instead of a bunch of noobs...

i was up like 150 euros and then they didnt trust it and i never got my money, they kept asking for documents, till it got expired. but ya maybe should try again sometime

Posted by: myndzi Apr 7 2011, 07:04 PM

They blocked me from logging in on Speakeasy. Some location detection gone awry. I still made a couple hundred bucks though.

what was the tetris related game on this website called?

Posted by: Blink Apr 7 2011, 09:37 PM

I've played on king.com, and they paid me when I cashed out. They also made me fax in some documents, but after about 2 weeks the money showed up in my paypal.

Another site I've tried was worldwinner.com and they also paid out. Maybe I'm lucky. I've heard a lot of stories about them refusing to pay, so I only deposited like $10 so I wouldn't feel too bad if they scammed me.

I remember LapSiLap playing as well, he introduced me to it and was my biggest competition in the large cash tournaments. I think we both made some good money off these sites.

Startris.

Edit: I also took my money out with no trouble.

Yey King! Haha havent been there for a long time. I made like 4k euros there :o

I once found a skill game type site which let you play a Tetris clone for money. They started me out with a few bucks (no charge), and I racked up around $50 in the first day. When I went to cash out, I found out that it wasn't allowed in my state. Figures.

wait so you win money for winning at tetris? sounds easy :O

Posted by: myndzi Apr 8 2011, 05:13 PM

It does use a rating system, so the more you win the harder it gets. If you pay me I'll tell you how to game it for maximum effectiveness! Wink.png

Startris is unlisted on King.com...

I found a tetris game in a pub one night. It paid for everyones drinks that evening. You could consistently make 10 if you were fast enough.

Touch screen though so a little unresponsive.

Well, I haven't been there in years. Too bad, it was actually an interesting game. I made most of my money at klick klack variants though, they had better payoffs. (Bigger tournaments at lower ranks, etc.)

You have to pay to access it. It comes up in the game search before then, but you can only get the page as a paid member.

I'm pretty sure they no longer have startris.

http://www.gameduell.net/gd/k19a.do?gametype=jet is a lame tetris clone that you can play for money. its not very speed or skill oriented at all though

Posted by: Paradox Apr 9 2011, 07:30 AM

I just checked, they still have.

Posted by: Alexsweden Apr 9 2011, 05:02 PM

Ok, how worth it is it? How often do you have the chance to gain money with this tetris variant? how much can me for example get here given that there will be a few people better than me playing? (how is the prize money spread out?)

Also how good would you guys say that the verision is?

Edit: also if i put in a small amount of money how long will I ba able to be a gold member?

Posted by: myndzi Apr 9 2011, 05:46 PM

You should be able to play it for practice to see if you like it. The higher your rating, the less worth it it is. If you want easy money you should just beat a lot of newbies, but with the attention from this thread you may be up against some HD members now.

Startris didn't have on demand tournaments with very good payouts when I played, because there weren't many people playing it. If you play a game with more people you can play like, 10 person tournaments that pay out much better, and therefore make more money per game if it's a game you are very good at.

Posted by: Alexsweden Apr 9 2011, 05:59 PM

Ok, and I will keep my gold status for as long as i have money left or?

Edit: how does the ranking system work. I read their FAQ but it did not mention if they take into account by how much you win your matches? - I mean is W/L the only thing that counts or is it also by how much you won?

Posted by: Paradox Apr 9 2011, 09:05 PM

Yeah if you could kindly give as much info as possible so I can see how it is before I pay anything lol.

Posted by: Kitaru Apr 9 2011, 09:16 PM

You can try it for free on other sites before you sign-up. ( Example: http://www.mochigames.com/game/startris/ )

One of my complaints so far is that I have a backlog of scores that haven't been paired up with an opponent yet. I could potentially have some more cash in-coming, but the games haven't resolved yet. It doesn't seem like it happens as often with the more popular games.

Posted by: myndzi Apr 10 2011, 01:19 AM

When I closed my account, they did tell me I was still gold, and I've been inactive for years... so, yes, I assume you keep your gold status.

What is a good score for startris?

this game is pretty good apart from fail das. Its very easy to control. I think everyone should whore this game. I know i would if they allowed aussie credit cards into the fray.
