What exactly do the Tetris, REN, T-Spin, and B2B stats on the TOP graph page mean? For example, I have 4.4 T-Spin, no idea what that means Foot In Mouth.png

Thats the average per game. REN is also the avg of the longest combo you do per game. So 4.4 Tspins means you on avg will do 4.4 tspins in a given game. B2B is the avg number of b2b tetris or tspins. People that play in 6 player rooms often have much larger averages than 1v1ers because the games last longer.

Ah, thanks Zero! It does seem like that's very sensitive to the length of the games, although I guess the shape of the graph could still be useful.

So I've been playing Tetris for over a year now an my 40L record is 28 seconds. The problem I have is that I misplace blocks a lot. Because of that, I reset most of my plays.

I also have a problem with improving. For the past month I've been playing horribly. Most of my 40L plays are about 35 secs and I haven't gotten a new record for about two months.

So any tips for those problems?

Btw I don't use hold.

28 seconds is really exceptional. I wonder if any of our elite 40-liners care to comment.

I think part of that is the current soft ban on 4w. Most good players don't want games to devolve into a 4w fest. There's a stigma. That's not to say it shouldn't be nerfed. If anything it means it should.

How does a Soft Ban apply, and what does it imply to players playing casually? More importantly, how did the soft ban happen?

I mean it in the same sense that Sirlin used in his book Playing to Win. Here's an excerpt:

QUOTE
Japan, however, does not officially ban Akuma from tournaments! They have what is called a "soft ban." This is a tacit understanding amongst all top players that Akuma is too good to be played, and that he destroys an otherwise beautiful game, so they unofficially agree not to play him. There are always a very small number of people who do play him in tournaments, but never the top players. Usually a few poor players try their hand at the god-character and lose, which is utterly humiliating and crowd-pleasing. This is an interesting alternate take on the "hard ban" we have in America.

You can read more about it here.

Is display an issue when it comes to Tetris? What would the Tetris community recommend for monitors and displays?

The NEStris guys use CRTs. I can't speak for everyone, but I try to find a low latency monitor when I buy. There are some 1ms ones out there for not too much money.

Is there anything i can do to misdrop less whenever i am in a tournament or playing against a well-known player there it is. It's very frustrating especially when i die in the first ten seconds.

guess the answer here is memorizing and training finesse... or training start-setups and fast stacking (not necessarily sprint, as you might want to stack spins and whatever) in general.

maybe changing something at your DAS settings could help in the long run but will definatly make you MD more in the first place.
