Polled versus Interrupt
The USB interface is polled meaning that the computer on a regular basis checks the keyboard for key presses / releases. Up to 7 keystrokes (modifier plus characters) is put into a packet and sent when using the standard USB HID (Human Interface Device) driver. The PS/2 interface on the other hand is interrupt driven, meaning only when a key is pressed / released does the keyboard send a signal to the computer. Although this SOUNDS good the practical effect is negligible due to the overhead of the OS and applications. Keyboard marketing departments like Steelseries would like you to believe this. I recommend you test for yourself but just swapping keyboards. You'll STILL see the keys lagging periodically under PS/2. And anyway it can't be all that bad since even SteelSeries latest gaming keyboard the SHIFT is USB only.

mine is das professional tactile soft

. __ . when mine falls apart (if ever) i'm going to get the blank das ultimate keyboard - it doesnt have inscriptions on the keys.

I use a very standard and generic Dell USB Entry Keyboard, but I WISH I had a Das Professional Keyboard. I would feel awesome everytime I typed.

you could get a cheap pos logitech keyboard for $10.
i could sell you my softly microsoft wireless keyboard + mouse for $20 i think new it's $60. i don't use it since i have the das keyboard and new mouse

its about $90 AUD = $8x US

I got it because its the cheapest brown switch i could find. I still toss up between blues/browns. I think browns with O-rings would be my ultimate keyboard lol.

Hmm, yeah I guess I'm looking for a somewhat decent one? I only go about 2.5-2.7ish pps and there are still quite a bit of lost key inputs when I'm playing. Maybe my keyboard's just old and worn out, not sure.

i think the majority of the users replying have higher end keyboards
higher end will always be expensive - definitely over $60
although they're expensive they perform significantly better

ex - paul's 40 lines improved really quickly after he bought a nicer keyboard that was around 90.. maybe 80.. .. iono how much it was.

Hmm yeah, I noticed that too. I guess my only problem is that I need to ship it home if I buy it with my debit card, so I need my parents' approval. Not too sure they would approve the purchase of a $100+ keyboard, but I myself would have no problem spending the money.
