I just came up with a Tetris Mode idea. I would like to hear your opinions and suggestions.

You stack Tetris like you would normally do, but when you make a line it doesn't go away. Every X turns all the lines made will be cleared, but otherwise they will remain there. The turns left for the next line cleaning will increase until the player loses.

The 2015 location test version of TGM4 had a mechanic in Rounds mode where the bottom half of the playfield would periodically be shrouded in an icy mist that prevented lines from clearing until the end of the section.

Skip ahead to around 1m30s:

It's not shown here, but I think starting at level 1100 it starts re-freezing after every section instead of every other section. So, if holes are made in the frozen zone at that point, it becomes incredibly dangerous -- you only had a chance to expose one layer of holes per section. While the completed lines would clear at the end of each section, the immediate refreeze meant you wouldn't get an opportunity to dig through any more than that.
