Sometimes I wonder what happened to the Tetris variant seen in Magical Tetris Challenge featuring Mickey, a multiplayer-based Tetris title that revolved around sending abnormal Tetris pieces as the main method of attacking other player(s) instead of spawning new "garbage" lines underneath their play field(s).

I was wondering if anyone other than me remembers Magical Tetris and wouldn't mind seeing a re-creation that plays with more modern Tetris rules and physics, including the option to play with TGM-styled rules and/or level up system.

That game doesn't even come close to playing like Magical Tetris Challenge. As you'll note the player in the background gets an X Pentomino without being attacked by the main player. Also this variant has a larger play field, items/powerups, both players drawing from their own Next windows, and no Counter/Overflow system. Don't forget the Monsters system which Magical Tetris Challenge does not feature in any format.

Heck, the only Pentominoes used are U, V, W, and X!

I remember MTC. That would be an interesting experience for sure, I can imagine the rage.

We played it in the semi-finals of a multi-game Tetris tournament at FanimeCon this year. Game is so damn hype, no joke. I forgot how awesome it was.
