i've been playing tetris for a long time but i only started taking it somewhat seriously i guess in 2006 or so. i started with playing tetris ds a lot and then moved onto facebook tetris some time in 2008, tetrisfriends i think in 2009 or 2010 and now cultris and nullpomino.

recently i started playing a lot of the 40 line mode in nullpomino. i finally broke 50 today, which had been sort of a long term goal, and i started getting curious about how i could improve further and such, so i figured i'd join this site.

this is my latest score: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=thsiew49Onc

one thing i know i need to do is learn to actually use both rotations, but since i've never really thought to do it, i find it hard to think of. i've actually been considering modding nullpomino in some way that doesn't allow me to rotate a brick more than once to help me learn.

i also like music, movies, anime and some other video games - particularly rpgs and fighting games. i play a lot of super smash bros. melee especially. i'm currently sort of a student and sort of some sort of ""indie" game developing guy".

i guess that's about it. i look forward to being part of the tetris community or whatever.

I started tetris at 2009, that make you my senior. And hiiii.

This must be like the fifth or sixth time we've come across each other again in Tetris-related things that have nothing to do with Nsider/Outsider

To learn to rotate both ways you basically just have to force yourself to do it. Play slowly and make a conscious effort to think about what you're doing and make the best inputs for the placement you want. It's a typical sort of thing that will feel horrible, awkward and slow to begin with, but which will probably start paying dividends fairly quickly once you get used to it.

I was stubborn in double rotation until I decided to just bite the bullet and learn. Basically, I played sprint over and over and whenever a T,J, or L appeared I took a second and thought about which way to rotate. Eventually it takes no extra time at all. A good keyboard setup also helps

Hahaha, that explains the deja vu. Seriously, it's like a flashback every time I figure it out. Keatsta, I've seen your name vaguely connected to Tetris enough times now to get the feeling that we've talked about Tetris or some other niche game whenever I see you post, but I'm never entirely certain of it. Now that I think of it, I recall that I've read/replied to some of your comments in some TGM-related Reddit post. I also feel like I've seen you on Tetris Friends before. I got curious and did a search and it looks like you've posted on Tetris Concept a while ago as well. It's messing with my head.

Hm, maybe twice? You need at least two key presses to reach every rotation state, unless you were planning to learn the 180 key right off the bat.
