I too come from TDS and this is my control scheme which is by far most similar imo:

I do wish I got used to movement with righthand on PC though in the long run I'm sure it would make me faster, though all this guitar heroing probably has made my left hand faster. Every other person who I got into TF from TDS has found this scheme far more comfortable than the default.

Edit: Oh no wonder I thought your name was familiar, I have seen/heard it around PP.

This is my control scheme, nearly verbatim (it's what I use for TGM style). However, I'm used to playing with World Reverse on, so when I play SRS I use Numpad 5 for rotate left, and Numpad 4 for rotate right. Also, because games like NullpoMino have three standard rotate keys, I also use Numpad 6 for an extra rotate (but not on games like TF). My style is chosen because it most closely resembles a TGM arcade layout (left hand movement on stick, right hand buttons for rotate) and it allows me to move between the two with little trouble. It also helps in keeping everything straight when I play TDS/TPD/LJDS/NDSTGM/whatever else.

When I play on a laptop without a numpad, I move my rotates over to JK(L) and hold to Space.

The most important thing is balance. Don't have one hand do too many things and you'll be fine.
