I haven't tried it yet but apparently some of the Japanese Tetris players are into this, and recommended it.  Let me know what you guys think.

Very fun game. It has nothing to do with tetris, but it's very challenging.
After about 10 tries I completed normal mode for first time (score:6552766, 56th in leaderboard).

Who cares if it has anything to do with Tetris, I'm enjoying it and I've only played 2 games (both about 103 normal, 56 death) and I could play this all day long.

Playing Death mode, I felt like I was playing TA DEATH or SHIRASE
Is it me or does lock delay shorten on later levels?

Yes, lock delay became very short in high death mode levels.

my records:

normal mode - level: all, 57th
hard mode - level: all, 39th
death mode - level: 862, 41st

You can watch other people's replays in ranking, so you can see what is strategy for high scores. But playing for big scores is risky if you are not good enough. When I try to play like guys from top of the list I die in low levels.

Oh great, now all I need is an arcade stick...NOW I'll truly feel like playing the TGM series
My records, as of writing:
NORMAL: 26th, ALL
HARD: 24th, ALL
DEATH: 53rd, 552 (even though I reached lvl 685 once)

How in the world does it feeling like TGM when only 1 of the 7 tetrominos are present?

Well, in terms of speed, it feels like TGM
Also, I topped you and Wojjy on the DEATH leaderboards!

Its quality and philosophy of design is consistent with that of TGM.

If you like Jewelry Master and have an Xbox 360, you should pick up Jewelry Master Twinkle. It is 400 MSP (5 USD) on XNA Indie Games and just as addicting as the free PC version.  As far as differences in JMT go, the gem combining rules and scoring are a little bit different, and there is no field clear "lifeline."

No MSP and we unplugged our 360 for speakers so it might get to be a bit of a hassle to switch but I might consider it

Analog works alright for TGM ACE supposedly, so I assume it'd be the same deal here. I'll check it out some time to verify, but I've just been using my SFIV TE.
