Problems making even Mini T Spins

I've been playing Tetris Ultimate on the 3DS for about a week, but I've never been able to perform even a Single Mini T Spin.

But I can make a few Mini T Spins  when I'm playing Tetris on my iPad or a Android tablet.


What am I doing wrong or is there a bug in Tetris Ultimate that prevents the game registering a T Spin?

Can you do regular T-Spins? Are you just trying to do T-Spin Minis? They're in there and scored as mini's, but perhaps they don't show a "T-Spin" flag when you're doing it. I believe there's actually an option to turn the alerts on and off.
