Tetris / Who uses the Nullpomino lag patch?
January 28, 2014, 09:44:58 AM
Is there a mirror link to download this file? Every time I try to download it I get a "Failed - Network error" on Google Chrome. If other people have this problem as well, that might be why not many players use it.

Thanks for the clarification! Good gawd, this is way harder then expected. I wish there were pop-ups that go, "Actually, you should've done it like this instead." I need an answer key.

The other thing I notice is that even though I average 70 seconds on TF, it's hard to beat even 90s on Null even though I feel like I'm clearing lines at the same speed. Are they adding finesse penalties to the time?

There are no finesse penalties to the time. You should be clearing slightly faster on Null, because Null has no line clear delay while TF does. You might just not be used to playing on Null yet, probably because your DAS setting is different than in TF, or the piece skin you're using is making it more difficult. (It takes longer to distinguish pieces in the next queue if you aren't used to the current skin)

Thanks, I'll look out for that.

By the way, I figured out how to turn on the Finesse Coach and now when I'm playing, there's this weird gasp whenever I drop a piece. Does that mean I tapped too much or is it telling me there was a better spot to drop my piece (like those chess coaches)?

It means that there were unnecessary key presses for the piece you just played.

savior: Connect to NullpoMino with a #tripcode after your name. For example, Username#code will produce Username !FKk4keqK9w. A different entry will produce a different code.

Thanks for the help!

Well it only tells you the faults you made but how you can correct it

Once you make the fault, you should pause the game and observe the piece you just dropped. Then look on the wiki for what the correct movement finesse for that exact piece orientation is. Compare those key inputs with the key inputs you used to place the piece there, and see where the difference is. Then try practicing the correct key inputs - wait until you get the same piece again and try to put it in the same orientation, but this time without making a finesse fault.

Since you're practicing finesse, it's OK if when you attempt to place the piece again, it creates a messed up stack. Focus simply on placing a piece with perfect finesse.

You can also turn your ghost piece display off and don't look at the position of your current piece. This will force you to have to know the exact inputs required to place a piece in a certain orientation. If you don't know the exact inputs, simply pause, look at the wiki, unpause and use the inputs they specify. Repeating this process will slowly build up your muscle memory, and eventually you won't need to pause and look at the wiki.

Question: what is a tripcode and where do we get it? Is it something that is generated somewhere, or just some random string that we make up?
