Introductions / How did you get into Tetris?
October 17, 2012, 03:10:17 PM
The first time I played tetris was probably when I was 7 or 8, the school had a win95-computer with Tetris (it was part of the Windows Entertainment Pack, along with other games like PipeDream and Chip's Challenge).

I also remember battling my music teacher in it, sharing the keyboard of course. I'd like to think I won most of the time, can't really remember

And then I probably didn't play for a couple of years...

Tetris / NullpoMino League Beta has begun!
October 05, 2012, 06:56:55 PM
Hey, is there a way for me to change my password for the NullpoMino site(at celer.be) ?

Username/password is plainly visible in the URL (my php is rusty but i think it's because you're using get or post? ).

like so:
celer.be/profile/login.php?username=xxx&password=yyy

I'm having fun with it anyway, it's cool to see graphs of my games etc

use ur 2nd finger for space.

Thank you for the tip! Tried some games with hard drop on up/down arrow as well as the v-key. But this is easier for my brain to comprehend

playing some NullpoMino and trying to find suitable settings. There are almost too many different rules and settings

Welcome DST, a lot of strong Tetris players come from Sweden so I'm looking forward to seeing your progress.

Wow thanks Blink:D

A couple of months ago I moved from rotating with up key to rotating with z x and holding pieces with c, now I hope to learn hard dropping with up(or maybe down, haven't decided...) instead of with my thumb on space.

But I have studies which hamper my tetris training atm, so progression wont be very quick...

go on arena lobby, press the spanner in the corner, change controls to "Custom" in the bottom left and remap to your hearts content

How did I miss that!!! Hahahah

Yes, there are specific advantages for tspins. You send the same lines as tetrises for less pieces. Cleans up a messy field. And if you do them enough times, its very easy to set up.

Ah, I see what you mean... Alright, gotta get more T-spins

Actually the way to gain rank is to win more. Lose less. But you should not care about your rank. It's meaningless anyways.

I see what you're saying, but rank has meaning in the sense that higher rank equals higher probability of facing good players...
But yeah, rank in Arena doesn't necessarily say anything about skill.

as for misdropping a lot, many people here have similar problems with TF because of lag - i'd suggest to try out NullpoMino or BlockBox and see whether your accuracy suddenly improves.

I'm not sure it's because of lag... I think if it was, I would've noticed. Maybe it's the way I've configured my "tuning style"...
Tried NullpoMino... it's nice, I'll play that some more when I have time...

On a side note, can I remap keys in TF? Through some kind of program?
There's probably a thread about that somewhere...

Hai there

Looking for some real Tetris? Play some NullpoMino, not TF. [link removed]

Hai! Actually I heard about that lovely game here on these forums! Seems everyone are linking to nullpomino

hey, welcome aboard

I checked out your stats on TF and from looking at your sprint time I think you could easily go up a few ranks in arena. try out T-spins and see how they suit you, I notice on your arena stats you don't use them.

looking forward to playing you some time

Thanks for the advice! I'm not very good at T-spinning... I find it so hard to make it a natural part of my game, and I usually fail if I try to set it up. (Also made som attempts at making T-spins in Ultra like every player on the leaderboard, haaard....)

I'd love to make it a part of my arsenal, but are there any specific advantages of T-spinning in Arena? Extra lines sent?

About the Arena rank... I was rank 15 today, but dropped in rank... I'm just not very consistent, alot of times I make small mistakes that mostly cost me the game, like setting up a big column and accidentally blocking it off because i moved a piece just one step wrong.

I guess the way to go about getting rank in Arena would be to enter games with just 1-2 other players of high rank, to avoid the odd flood of pieces from 3 or 4 players in the room...

looking forward to playing you too, and thanks again for the advice given

Hello all!

Visited this place last year and lurked around a bit, then today on TF I came across a nice guy who told me to register here.
So I thought, what the heck.

I'm DST from Sweden, and I'm a tetris addict.

Glad I found this cool forum
