This game is an example of playing without being able to see the active piece or its shadow. It is extremely difficult to play this way at first. This is because normally a player would need to visually confirm that they have moved and rotated the piece correctly before placing it. I've found that practicing this way has helped me commit all the placements to "muscle memory." I play more fluently and with less mistakes.
I go into more detail as to how to do this on this post: http://harddrop.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=4406&st=0&p=61060entry61060
