Throughout this entire year 61 poll entry,
152 unique achievements and 385 votes were accepted.
But only the people featured here managed to reach the title assigned
by the HardDrop community. Before voting, read all entries carefully. Think about
the players, how they have improved their Tetris skills. Clicking at each month will take you
to the respective poll. This won't be an easy choice. That's why you have around 5 days to vote.

Honestly? I vote dhuang. I don't necessarily think PotY is about in-game achievements only. I think the professionalism with which TTO3 was run was quite an achievement itself, and it definitely strengthened the community and its reputation beyond what most members have been able to affect. I think neglecting that in the consideration of this award naively overlooks what this sort of recognition is about.

Though, it's not up to me what format this takes, I guess.

Can someone explain a bit nahcirujano's accomplishments? I'm not familiar with Tetris Grandmaster and can't put this in some perspective, how does it compare to other TGM players?

I voted Jtadore, but I see they are equal in number of votes.

dhuang organizing TTO3 was definitely something really big for the community.
However this is player of the year, not member of the year.
Extruderx and I have already agreed POTY would be picked from this year's POTMs.

I have no problem with this, but if the category is Tetris player of the year, why limit it to Harddrop members? Wouldn't it then be more appropriate to have it be member of the year anyway? :Sisu: Pirate.png
Also, it's too bad so much potential is left out because they didn't nominate themselves. Even though sure, you could argue that they didn't opt in, so they have no right to be in it. I just feel like if the category is Tetris player of the year, it's more in the spirit of the concept to have it be a collection of every accomplishment. In other words, where is sub 20?

O, and it would help a lot if you tidied OP with spoiler tags, reading it makes me Confused.png.

Agree for sub-20 being the most impressive thing that's happened in Tetris this year.

But that Jtadore cultris swag is a close second. Smile.png

Watch the videos posted, because the explanation of the game itself would take a long time xD

Basically, getting a MasterM at TGM3 is rather difficult. You have to complete a game with forced speed, mantaining a stable game (in terms of speed while completing the sections), that is, getting all COOL Sections, survive, and finally confront the M-Roll, or Invisible Tetris, making enough lines to achieve MasterM.

Regarding Shirase... this game mode is so damn (insanely) hard xD
Just watch the videos and you'll confirm this.

Well, I completed this hard game mode 5 times, and until now, I'm the only Non-Japanese player who did it (in Classic Rule Rotation, which is harder than World Rotation System).

Of course, the other players' achievements are impressive as well Wink.png

It would seem more logical to compare the achievements of players throughout the entire year instead of looking at the 12 POTM winners, but I guess it is too late for that...

Has POTY been done this way in the past?

edit: Barney already stated something similar, and I agree with that.

1)IIRC this is the first POTY poll ever done (if there were polls like this done before I hadn't found them at the forum)

2)If people want to take players' every accomplishment throughout the entire year into account, there are previous POTM links that connect to each page in 2013. Otherwise it'd be tl;dr for some people and less votes in general, but that's just my opinion. I'm willing to add the remaining stuff to the OP though.
I think that if we're piling up every achievement during the year, the people who have already won POTM would send more entries just for benefits in POTY competition, which creates a skill gap IMO. (Sorry, I can't explain properly - during this year the people who have won the POTM's already have been prohibited from sending other entries, but then some would be unaware of the possibility of simply sending their achievements for adding them to POTY. That would be imbalanced. F. ex. I have cut 30 secs from my 60 second time in this entire year, and if we were including that, other players who have won should have been sending their own accomplishments later to "counteract". I don't want my past entries to make an influence on this year's polls. Maybe next year we can do something different.)
