I recently started to play it and I must say i love it. I never played any music/rythm games, but that looked interesting so i tired it and I don't regret.

I post it here because I see how this game could interest some of tetris players (I believe few people here already play it).

Yes, it is just clone of similiar game from DS, but big community and almost unlimited number of songs to play make it very unique expieriance.

link: osu!

video:

Some things i learned already (could be good tips for beginner):
-avoid very old maps, often they are unfairly hard only because of their bad design
-instead of clicking with mouse use z/x keys

If you want, post your in-game name (my own: NullWojtekWojtek) or/and maps you recommend.

players list:
Wojtek
Boingloing
massi4h
ohstephanie
clincher
twirler (hd: apm10)
Mad-Scientist (hd: MrBerardi)
FieryLight

other music games:
Stepmania

I LOVE OSU

but I'm really pretty bad.
the current chart I'm trying to beat (because my friend is forcing me to)

I can only survive to about the 25 second mark right now. SO FAR TO GO.

Like many setups here, it is useful if your opponent doesn't move and you get 4 Ts in a row.

I find Osu to be nice change from DDR and other games like that (iidx, pop'n). So sometimes, I'll play a ton of DDR, then go play Osu, then go back to DDR, then back to Osu...

A day well spent.

Ah, I remember this, only played a couple times, it was recommended to me to help with training mouse accuracy while I was really into Starcraft.

Out of all the music games I've played, osu is by far my favourite. Probably cause new songs come out all the time (all the anime OP/EDs that I know) and I'm enjoying it much more since I got a bamboo tablet for Christmas.

My username is massi4h. I'm not great at the game like some people I've played with, but it's just so much fun. If you don't like anime, you might like "Nightcore"
It's a pretty popular genre and the charts are fun as to play.

Here's a couple examples of charts I like:
http://osu.ppy.sh/s/26452
http://osu.ppy.sh/s/21949
http://osu.ppy.sh/s/21219

Just join random multiplayer rooms and download maps through there. Or just get recent ranked beatmap packs if you want a random bunch of songs to play with.

Boingloing's video there is a song which is a mix of 2 of my favourite charts to play: Marisa wa Taihen na Mono wo Nusunde Ikimash**a and Kanbu de Tomatte Sugu Tokeru

If you're not playing with a tablet then you're missing out!
also, like Woj said, use z/x for clicking. I didn't know this until after I started playing that chart and realied that it would be impossible otherwise.

Never tried osu!...but as for rhythm games I am a bigger fan of Flash Flash Revolution (FFR). Might give this a try, although doesn't seem to be as exciting. :o

Despite being a fan of Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan! and having a genuine tablet PC (X220t Heart.png ) it somehow never occurred to me that I could properly play Osu. Shame on me!
