This is my appreciation thread for a player I feel will have a long reign at the top of multiplayer Tetris.
  1. He stays humble
  2. He's dedicated and puts in a lot of time playing Tetris
  3. He's still young with plenty of room to grow
  4. He's gone from fast to extremely fast in about a year
  5. He's a strong downstacker
  6. He can time garbage attacks and counter garbage better than almost anyone (maybe not samaf)
  7. He uses all the weapons in a game fluently (all spins, 180 spins, combos, tspins)
  8. He can use both ARS and SRS
  9. He can ST stack, hang in invisible mode for awhile, can handle 20G, can perfect clear start (i think), 4-wide, anything).
  10. He's experienced in tournament play - very consistent and doesn't choke under pressure.
It takes a ton of time, motivation, and dedication to learn so many completely different aspects of the game but he's already done that and he's not even 20 years old yet.

Like many setups here, it is useful if your opponent doesn't move and you get 4 Ts in a row.

Respect to Hebo Mai and all japanese beasts. Unfortunately, I haven't played him yet.
@Blink Which of these features you think you don't have or need to improve?

I have to say, Blink's got it pegged. It takes a certain kind of person (and dedication) to achieve this kind of mastery.

Very nice breakdown Blink. I will never cease to be amazed by all the "young people" who can learn to dominate so quickly. I wish I could've started playing Tetris when I was 12 instead of 17, and I wish I had all the game and modes we have today.

It's definitely going to be awesome to see the players and skill levels in another year or two.

Yes, as soon as Hebo_MAI masters MPH (Memoryless Previewless Holdless) he will truly be unbeatable.

There's a difference between respecting someone and grovelling in their shadow.

The latter is when you've beaten yourself.

lol fawning over hebo_MAI. Mind you, there are a few people out there that think they're better than what they actually are and have even gone so far as to state publically, online, that they are / were at once the best in France / USA / UK wherever.
