PLAYING: 10PM GMT on Sunday @ Nullpomino

Competition thread: http://harddrop.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=3943&st=0

Okay so the first section of this challenge is over!

We had four contestants for the semi finals!

ZeroT - With an amazing score of 175 ZeroT heads our field.... but was it just luck? Will he handle the pressure of playing live? We expect great things!

Paul676 - Scoring a whopping 178 Paul676 is representing Britain in this event. Can he bring home the gold for Britain and save me on prize shipping costs?

billtsar - billtsar, the master of nullpomino dig race, pulled out a very respectable 182 entry to qualify for the semi finals. No one would dispute his place there, but has he got the skills to go further and prove himself the outright champion?

Anonymous - Annon is an incredibly fierce Blockbox player where downstacking skills run hand in hand with glorious victory. As author of the downstackers guide to the galaxy I'd been expecting him to make the cut... and he did, with a stylish score of 192. Can he prove himself the ultimate downstacker?

Semi Final Rules
You must play 7 games of 18L dig race LIVE online while we all watch.... NO restarts allowed. We will take your 3 best games and add their scores together. Lowest two scores qualify for the final.

#1 - Paul676 - 121 AVG 41.00
#2 - Anonymous - 124 AVG 48.28
#3 - Billtsar - 127 AVG 50.42
#4 - ZeroT - 145 AVG 55.57

Commentary: "_____ is downstacking here."

^^
If it's this simple then why you didn't finish in the top 4? =D

The commentary just makes it more fun for people watching. Even if it's just talking about the players, tetris in general or whatever.

A provisional time for this event is 10PM GMT on Sunday 20/11/2011.. but I'm still waiting to hear back from Annon and bill

Results are out:

#1 - Paul676 - 121 AVG 41.00
Pauls 0 gravity style was deeply unpopular with 90% of the audience and 100% of the other competitors. However it did earn him first place and will prove useful practice for the final.

0 - 39
1 - 43
2 - DQ
3 - 45
4 - 37
5 -
6 -

#2 - Anonymous - 124 AVG 48.28
An outstanding display of digging skill from Anon earned him second place, although he left it until his final game to pull off the sub 40 game which saw off competition from Billtsar
0 - 61 Pieces
1 - 58 Pieces
2 - 47 Pieces
3 - 48 Pieces
4 - 40 Pieces
5 - 45 Pieces
6 - 39 Pieces

#3 - Billtsar - 127 AVG 50.42
Billtsar raced through his games and recorded some pretty quick times. It was interesting to see the differences ARS made and many of his placement choices seemed both surprising and superior to what I'd have done. Only 4 pieces from a second place finish! Tight!
0 - 50 Pieces
1 - 51 Pieces
2 - 49 Pieces
3 - 43 Pieces
4 - 76 Pieces
5 - 42 Pieces
6 - 42 Pieces

#4 - ZeroT - 145 AVG 55.57
ZeroT's performance left us questioning his uber score posted in the initial stages of the competition. However there is a degree of luck involved in dig racing... perhaps he got unlucky! I believe ZeroT was the only person to watch the whole semi finals other than myself and caffeine... so no one should question his dedication!
0 - 76
1 - 47
2 - 49
3 - 49
4 - 57
5 - 60
6 - 51

Finals will be posted in a new thread.
