So I was messing about with Tetris Battle Gaiden again the other day and I realised something. There's little to no other game like it. (Just found Toho Battle Gaiden)  The closest things to it would be multiplayer items or games with characters but no special abilities.

What gives?

It's times like these that I wish I could remake the game with harddrop and hold It'd just be awesome. Course I haven't really thought about how the orb power section would work.

The next piece queue is hilarious- they share it.

The lightning bolt is a factor of too many misdrops from your opponent.

Anyone up for a mini tournament sort of game on tetris battle gaiden? Assuming I figure out how to work out the matches. >.>

It's a SNES game,so you'd need a snes emulator with tcp/ip network play support.  As for the rom, Google is your friend.

I do not think it would play very well over the net, but I could be wrong.

SNES emulators are nests for viruses mind you, last year a guy I know plugged his flash drive in, and it crashed the computer, they ended up trashing it.

for the record, I always found znes's netplay to be pretty smooth. however, you have to make sure to get zsnes 1.4.2, they took it out after that I think - it's not in the latest version, at least

of course I only play public domain games made by SNES assembler enthusiasts, roms are illegal and all

Cheers DrPete.
1.4.2. Netplay is indeed pretty good. Had a few games of my old school bomberman

Anyone else with tetris battle gaiden want a try then?

Who would be up for a mini tournament game?

Course it does require some setting up with Hamachi and all that. It basically replicates LAN, so people can play together.

Well the ones I've tried/seen used have been. Perhaps they were taken from illegitimate websites. :/
