If the ads don't really bother you, or you are against ad blocking, feel free to ignore this post.

This works in XP, Vista, and Windows 7. Here's how you can watch the live stream on HD's main page and other ustream videos while bypassing the advertisements which periodically pop up from the bottom of the video. Taken from: http://www.tomnliz.com/Livecam/Ads.html

QUOTE
1. Go to start > RUN

2. Type notepad c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

3. Add the lines:
127.0.0.1 media.scanscout.com
127.0.0.1 exelator.com
127.0.0.1 atdmt.com
127.0.0.1 adap.tv
127.0.0.1 http://redir.adap.tv/redir/client/AdPlayer.swf
127.0.0.1 redir.adap.tv

127.0.0.1 bs.serving-sys.com
127.0.0.1 bluekai.com

127.0.0.1 pagead2.googleadservices.com
127.0.0.1 partner.googleadservices.com
127.0.0.1 www.googleadservices.com
127.0.0.1 creativeby2.unicast.com
127.0.0.1 pagead2.googlesyndication.com/*
127.0.0.1 www.adotube.com/*

4. Save the file and close it. If you have your browser currently open you will have to close it and reload it for it to start blocking those 2 entries above.

I tested this out tonight, working beautifully.

but, this works for all your browsers, all the time.. no need to worry about anything when you upgrade.
you can also add these to your /etc/hosts file on OS X and Linux/UNIX to block adds.
I heard this tip a little while ago and have been using it, it works like a charm.

this tells your computer to look for the adds on your local system, so they fail all the time.

ok, after the new update to TF arena I was unable to play due to one of these entries.

I commented this line out and the game loads as expected now:

Yep it works, but you guys should know that some sites have scripts to detect if an ad is loaded or not. They will deny service/page load if it is rerouted via local host (which is what this trick does).

Adblock is a wee bit handier since u can disable/enable on the fly for some sites ^^

so a website provides you a valuable service to your members for free and you repay them by telling your members to block their means of support? you sir, are a terrible person.

Yeah, I'm kinda on the fence about this issue but there's so many sites out there that abuse ads/pop-ups that I've ultimately just had to install adblock. (sorry good webmasters ^^)

Until Ustream begins to deliver advertisements in an unintrusive manner, I'll happily block them. Banners over the video stream are unnecessary, especially since they decide to pop up every few minutes.
