I should add one thing: it's more fun when it's just regular 90% random, instead of the special randomizer used in normal drill games to keep the distribution fair. Since all players would get the same advantaged/disadvantaged garbage, it's still fair--just more varied and interesting.

In other words, the specially randomized garbage in regular drill modes is necessary because it prevents players from having to restart a hundred times just to get a decent starting stack, but it's not necessary in multiplayer since the goal is to win/lose rather than break a world record. In multiplayer, just regular 90% is fine, and it allows more variation.

this is lot like hangame race mode but in hangame there are predefined maps instead of random garbage lines.

I don't think we've really tried to add other multiplayer gametypes to NM yet. It could be a room option or something, but eventually we should add in a framework to get multiple modes in multiplayer (that's a mouthful).

In any case, the window resolution thing is achieved through simple scaling right now. We're still working out a solution that doesn't look like a** (i.e. blurry and nasty) and can be extended to higher sizes. For now, though, it should be fine.

I told myself I shouldn't get this until after TTO. But I succumbed yesterday and got a 34 second sprint in a few tries. And had heaps of fun on it, now I can't play TF anymore. It's soo slow haha. I think I can break 30s as well in a month or 2 if I play it a bit. Damn Nullpo is awesome. Btw is there any mode like survivor? Which I assume is the one where you keep recieving garbage and you gotta clear it.

There will be a mode like survivor on the next release. I'm glad you like it!

Check out nullpo.weebly.com , Its a website I made to help people that are new to nullpomino get started. In case you wanted to bring more people to it wink.gif

The amount of players is increasing on nullpo, very nice.

Yeah I had it before but sucked due to lack of big previews lol. Then accidentally permanently deleted everything in My Documents and couldn't be bothered redownloading. But this is real good now and that 4-wide combo map is good practice.

I added nightly svn builds of NullpoMino to the website: http://nullpo.it.cx/
The latest build gets updated once a day at 8am CET and contains a compiled playable version (including the jar).
Beware that it contains the latest code, so might be unstable. For the next 7.5 release (which is almost done), it should be fairly stable though. We encourage you to test it and find any bugs before the official release of 7.5.
The netplay server on nullpo.it.cx also runs this version, and is compatible with the new 7.5 client. So feel free to test the game especially on netplay!

If you feel like testing out all the cool new 7.5 features, download this: http://nullpo.it.cx/svn/npm.zip
Just to mention it again: This is the current dev version, so expect possible bugs and please report them. :)

A while ago, virulent asked me to upload my soundpack, so here it is. It's pretty much optimized for non-TGM style high-speed play.

Features:
  • Minimalist: I disfavor move/rotate/hold/spawn/whatever sound effects because, to me, they don't tell me anything valuable. They're existence just makes things sound messy and noisy to me. I like a good clean, standalone lock.wav because it tells me only the valuable feedback. This way, I can get a good feel for how fast I'm playing.
  • The only line clears with sounds are T-Spins, PCs, and Combos. I was going to make new Combo wavs, but meh... too much work lol. I just dulled them a little. The single/double/triple/tetrises don't warrant audio feedback, imo. I'm actually considering muting the Combos altogether, and just going off the visual feedback for them.
Before you use the attachment, try downloading here first so maybe we can save Blink a little bandwidth.
