You read right, folks ! Sorry I didn't post this sooner, but the holidays have been a busy time. Nonetheless, better 'late' than never !

I've had 6 bounties worth a cool $1,000 in effect for a couple of weeks, but fear not - there's still a week left, and you can cash in !

Tetris Plus 2 (TP2) has a 'regular' Tetris mode, but the bounties are for the 'Puzzle' mode of the game. For those who've not tried it out, your goal is to create an opening in a playfield that consists of pre-laid blocks, and you use the standard 7 tetrominos to create that opening. If successful, the character that is walking on top of the blocks will touch the bottom of the playfield, and then that stage is completed. Here's a sample pic from TP2:

OK - now, I've done a few different, and interesting, things on this mode of the game. For example, I've had a perfect game, and also pushed the score limits for both Standard difficulty, and the Expert difficulty, for Puzzle Mode. And, depending on how well I think I've done, I've arranged things such that someone can enter (via a small entry fee that's an amount you can choose), and if the entrant wins, then a generous multiplier takes effect. The multiplier ranges from 4x, all the way up to 10x, for the various bounties I'm offering. For example, a player beating my score for a perfect game, and entering for the maximum entry fee amount, would get $300 as the bounty award !

Well, let's cut to the chase now. For the post that I have done giving all the details, and parameters, click here. To see the entire thread from the beginning, click here.

I hope we can get a few of you competing on this title, and another post I did to gauge interest in TP yielded at least a couple of you who are familiar with the game. In any case, good luck if anyone on here gives it a go, and let's see if someone can top a few of my scores ! Smile.png

Hahaha, I have major restart syndrome when I don't get the right pieces to sub-10 in the first handful of stages, plus I keep eating dirt on my decent-ish runs. I accidentally killed myself with a misdrop of my very first piece on Stage Y earlier. Grin.png

I'm a bit confused. Do we have to pay to enter? I can't find the version of MAME to use or know how to record a game.

Although I did dl and play the rom over vacation and it was very fun.

MDARULZ explains all of that stuff here.

Hi Kitaru ! Yep, one of my competitors at my forums calls this type of thing a 'restart fest' ! And, some tough stages are inevitable, especially if you're trying for bounty #2, which requires using most of the right side of the stage selection screen. I must note, however, that this is one of the tougher bounties. One of the easiest, IMO, and one where my score is a little vulnerable, is bounty #1, where you go for the highest score using any path you like. Of course, if you go the easier way, by taking stages along the left, and I decided to push it a little bit toward the harder side, then naturally, you might not beat me, even if you lose very few time bonus or prize points. It does take a little experimentation, and a little planning. Also, looking at the recordings done for MAME, like the one where someone won bounty #6, or a YouTube recording, can help. Both of those things are addressed later in this post.

Note that for bounty #2, you do have the option of going thru the X stages instead of Y, Kitaru. This is because there's no prizes for these stages, so taking the easier set is not only sensible, it's allowed within the rules of this bounty challenge. And, trust me - only a masochist would choose Y over X. Y is a living b****, times 1000 !!

OK - I did make the offer in another thread on these forums that if at least one person signs up, then I'll extend these bounties by another 6 days (they're due to end today, otherwise). If two people sign up, I'll extend things 11 days. And if 3 sign up, 15 days ! So, there is still 'plenty' of time.

Also, note that one of the bounties has been claimed ! That's right - I've paid out $50 for someone who topped me on bounty 6 (see this post on my forums), so money has been given away, and I've got LOTS more... But, someone has to sign up today !!

Let's wrap up with a video play from YouTube that gives you a glance at one possible path in the game. Note that this path may or may not be adequate for one or more of the bounties that are still in effect (#1 to #5; details are in this post).

Well, unfortunately I didn't get a chance to study Tetris Plus 2 to a point where I was happy with my performance. I'm still planning to give it some play, -- The PCB is sitting on my desk at home! -- it just won't be for the bounty.
