We have just added a stream status indicator to the forums so you'll know when our live broadcast is on air/off air. It is located on the upper right corner of the forums as seen boxed below:

Some updates to it: Reduced font size and made it match the forum font, also added a context menu choice if you right click and click view stream, it'll take you straight to the stream for quick access. The status now live updates every 20 seconds, you don't have to refresh the page.

Note to broadcasters: You will be shown ON AIR as soon as you press START in Flash Media Encoder, and you will not be shown OFF AIR until you exit FME completely. Pressing STOP on FME but leaving it open will still list you ON AIR.

Could you change it back to the way it was? This is what happened when I left Safari for several hours with the forum open:

Needless to say, Safari stopped responding soon after I tried to open that Activity window and I ended up having to force quit.

oh hm, maybe some problems w/ safari and it, okay i'll fix it - after i download some software needed, i recently formatted. I'll revert back to the non auto update behavior.

okay fixed just now - reduced update frequency to once per 2 hours to prevent safari from crashing after leaving the site open for a very long time. It still will update if you move between pages. also added another option for context menu - go to HD's main page. You may have to clear your cache for it to take effect.

Ustream's API servers are down, and thats why the live stream notification isn't working correctly. I've e-mailed them and they said they are working to bring it back up. When they do bring the API servers back up it'll work again.

Now working again, updated with a better code. More lightweight, uses less bandwidth, updates faster (almost instantly), no browser debug errors, and is now using javascript instead of flash. Also works more properly (broadcasters no longer have to close everything to be shown offline). You will be shown "On Air" the second you hit start broadcast, and "Off Air" the second you press stop broadcast.

You may have to clear your browser cache to see any changes.

On another note, is anyone else interested in streaming their gameplay? Let me know - I know caffeine has already volunteered to stream Tuesdays/Sundays when he's not busy. If anybody else is interested just respond here.
