From Ubisoft,

A little while back we told you a next-gen Tetris was on its way. Well today we are pleased to announce Tetris Ultimate. Take your Tetris skills to the next level on the PS4 and Xbox One this summer, as the game hits its 30th anniversary. The PC version will follow in the fall. See the first teaser trailer here and keep an eye out for more details next week at E3.

Take on six different game modes – Marathon, Battle, Power-Up Battle, Ultra, Endless and Spirit – with up to four people in Tetris Ultimate. Celebrate this momentous anniversary with new features and exciting visuals.

If you are attending E3, Alexey Pajitnov will be at the Ubisoft booth (South Hall, #1023) showcasing the game and signing autographs on June 10 from 2:00 to 3:00 PM. Tetris Ultimate will also be playable at the Uplay Lounge, located in The Standard hotel.

the last day of summer is September 22nd... so if they want to release it this summer they just have to have it out by then.

I'll buy this for Xbox one, nothing else to look forward to game-wise except the next call of duty.

I hope for a SNES Tetris mode for 1v1 battles.

Oh I misunderstood. You're right (we're both right). It's sad. =(

How do you figure? From the video, it looks like change-on-attack, but it doesn't try to avoid the last column it used. In other words: T-Spins and Tetrises always send a lined-up "chunk," but it goes to a random column regardless of where the last chunk went.

Again no downstacking mode :(. Looks like this game uses 1 preview and garbage hole column doesn't change during each attack (i.e. Tetrises and T-Spins send clean garbage) and sometimes not even after each attack (i.e. clean garbage in general). http://youtu.be/hUctFqwCxO4
